I agree. I’ve also heard that Consumer Reports has an anti-American bias. A local garage owner made mention of this on his radio show. He basically made the point that most American autos are just as good as foreigns cars. He also stated that repairs to imports can really get ridiculous. He mentioned Volvo and Lexus in particular. I must admit however, that I’ve given thought to making a Subaru or Toyota my next car.

I owned a 1998 Honda Civic VX as my 2nd car and a 1988 Chevy Cavalier as my 1st car.

Now which one broke down more times than I can count? Anyone?

Honda Civic. My Chevy Cav 1988 only gave me a headache once, which only needed a generic alternator. The spare parts for the Civic WHICH IS AN IMPORT cost me an arm and a leg, while the “crappy American” car parts were dirt cheap.

And I bought them both in Canada from where I;m from originally.

I hear ya. I've always driven Fords -- mostly trucks, though. I do know their cars aren't quite as reliable as their trucks are (overall).

When it comes to light trucks, nothing beats a Ford!
