Posted on 07/29/2008 11:43:21 AM PDT by ZGuy

An earthquake is now rocking the Southern California area. (I'm near Dodger Stadium)
As I post this, the USGS has not yet determined the epicenter so click on the link above for the exact location and magnitude from the USGS.

Here are the maps for California and Los Angeles:

My best guess, Cal. State Fullerton from Chino, maybe 30, 40 miles. Wouldn’t worry though, it seems damage was minimal even at epicenter. I’m sure she’s fine.

In Before We Would Be Better Off If California Dropped Into The Sea...

Nice. From someone who was on top of the Northridge quake in 94. My home burned down...not the time for jokes.

I don’t think we’ve met in person. I live just west of Fig Garden, by Shaw and West.

I got six dogs. One was in my arms as I ran into the backyard (they ain’t gonna find MY body under no rubble). Other than the one I had in my arms, I think two of them actually woke up. And the one in my arms was annoyed he was out of the air conditioning.

At Work in Temple City. Shook for a good 40 seconds here, every which way too. I was able to walk 150 feet down a hall as it shook. It was awesome. If you’ve been through every quake since 1966 in L.A. like me, you know how to deal with them and embrace them. Our bldg is 85K Square Feet and only had 1 minor 3 foot long crack, nothing major. Cell Phones are still out, at least AT+T is. I must read the thread now.

My great-aunt was the haberdasher on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, years ago. That’s something I’ve not experienced... a quake while on a boat, moored or not. I’ve been on bridges, on roofs, in doors, on 33flr of downtown SF buildings.. rolled out of bed... egads. I feel a Green Eggs and Quake meme coming on. lol

Buncha lightweights. We had a 5.2 quake in SW Indiana a couple months ago and it didn’t even make us flinch. Knocked my hot water main loose and flooded my kitchen. I just shut the water off, mopped up and went about my business. We had 2 or 3 aftershocks a day for a month after.

UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark to name the ones which come to mind.

I would then ask WHY Germany and Japan, two countries utterly defeated by us in war?

Because of the kind of good country we are. There ARE other good countries, too.
