Who can Palin appoint to serve out the rest of Stevens term (and replace him in the November election)?
heh.
I never liked this guy. I could tell that he was a greedy, corrupt scumbag.
I’m not that up on Alaskan politics. I knew of Begich because of the Rasmussen polling.
Ted is one of the biggest crooks up there. It is time for him to serve time.
US officials say the Justice Department has indicted Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens (R) on charges related to a long-running investigation of business dealings in Alaska.

The FBI, working with an Alaska oil contractor, secretly taped telephone calls with Sen. Ted Stevens as part of a public corruption sting it was reported late last year, according to people close to the investigation.
The secret recordings suggest the Justice Department was eyeing Stevens long before June 2007, when the Republican senator first publicly acknowledged he was under scrutiny. At that time, it appeared Stevens was a new focus in a case that had already ensnared several state lawmakers.

I wonder if oov Sarah Palin can appoint herself to fill his seat? She’s getting good press.
Absolutely! He’s a disgrace to the party. But what’s worse is that the Republican leadership has continued to support clowns like this. If I remember right, he’s been under investigation for awhile. With this and his pork-barrel spending rants, the Republican leadership should have cut his nuts off and supported a primary challenger. It’s not like there’s been any cohesion among Republican senators to disrupt.
Stevens faces seven counts of false statements involving VECO, the oil services company in Alaska, and the renovations done on his home.
Right!
TERM LIMITS!

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
He is the Robert Byrd of the GOP
Good, what took them so long?
No, you need a Republican for the front page, above-the-fold, and then they'll bury the Dems somewhere on page G-12.
Now they just need to go after Obama, Clinton, and Reid for their under-the-table real estate shenanigans.
My sis, the social worker, once asked me how Republicans were any different from Democrats. She's a liberal, of course.
I responded that, when a GOP politician was found with his hand in the till (or his hand on the young men), conservatives in the party will disown him and actively work for his removal.
Democrat officials and voters, however, seem to circle the wagons around their most corrupt and amoral. See William Jefferson...
If Stevens were a Democrat, this wouldn't be a big deal -- to the party, the media...or the liberal voters. But, since Stevens is a Republican, he's friggin' doomed.
And good riddance.
Seven charges of making false statements.
Politicans are legally allowed to lie. This goes nowhere, but Stevens is 86 and deserves to retire and go on the Veterans’ Dinner talk circuit.
Look how they went after Larry Craig and David Vitter.
