In Vietnam, and in Iraq, when we played at the Vietcongs/AlQaeda's game of tit for tat we could keep them at bay, but never turn the corner.
Unless Islam rises as one nation, raises a standing army, and starts grabbing territory they can never hope to batter the west into submission.
Yes they may be capable of horrible acts of violence including the deployment of weapons of mass destruction, and yes we need to do what we can to protect ourselves against such possibilities.
But nowhere do I see that a true Caliphate is being created, or an Islamic standing army, or any real attempt to grab and hold land.
Sending hoardes of Muslim immigrants into Western Europe may seem like a good strategy at first, but what is to prevent the Muslims from going native and becoming addicted to internet porn and fried pork before the call for war is made?
Afghanistan (along with NW Pakistan) may not be the only beachhead in the current war on terror, but it is a significant one that needs to be dealt with.
If our success in Iraq allows us to spare a few more troops to go to that region then I say that it is a very good thing to do. And if Obama kinda sort agrees with that sentiment then I agree with him on at least one thing.
Speaking of the FBI I heard briefly on the radio today that the FBI was going to accept non-American citizens into their ranks as employees. Bizarre and imo, the wrong thing to do.
Thanks, that does make me feel better. Militarily, they don’t stand a chance and they know it.
What I’m most concerned about and hits a little closer to home is the willingness of the 5th column in the U.S.A. (Liberal media and politicians, Islamic lobbyists, and all their little minions)to undermine the foundations of our nation from within.
It was bureaucratic bickering in D.C. that cost us Vietnam, and is a great factor in Iraq. This unwillingness to use force against a definable enemy that would submit to it (no pun intended) is a Washington failure with dire cost.
These litle armies like al-sadr’s mahdi army can become definite threats unless they are ruthlessly crushed, and while our fighting men are able and willing to do so, their hands are tied by paperwork.
Shameful.

And remember how Clinton allowed the terrorists to proliferate for 8 years. We have hindsight but think of what GW was up against in the early part of his presidency.

I have a hard time believing that the NY Times, et al really want an Islamic Caliphate to come into being.
They are definitely aiding and abetting in undermining our morals and our morale, and setting us up for defeat, but when the Islamists start to take control ... if they ever do ... then I believe the leftists will turn against them.
The leftists did fight against Franco, and so there is some historical case to be made that the leftists will be on our side if a bitter fight to the death ever shapes up.
People say that history always repeats itself, but not exactly. The Russian Communists and the Chinese Communists did not suffer the same fate upon the world-wide collapse of Communism.
The Muslims may have been able to take over much of Spain for several centuries before being routed, but that doesn't mean we are fated to suffer the same consequence.
I imagine that the CIA does that, at least in terms of hiring foreigners as temporary contractors to help gather info and sow misinformation.
Since foreigners are now a major threat to our internal security, it might be necessary for the FBI to hire foreigners for the same reasons.
I would hate to find out that improperly vetted foreigners are working at FBI central headquarters with access to critical classified information, but if I found out we had a few foreigners working as stringers then it would actually make me think that the FBI was not as Keystone Koppish as they sometimes appear to be.

True. The biggest problem with the leftist mentality, at least in this regard, is that they are willfully ignorant of the threat against them and all too often are willing to champion the enemies of freedom.
They are like a bird nesting on the viper’s eggs.
I have to agree with Mark Steyn however that Europe is on the brink of Islamization, and the U.S. has displayed a great weakness in view of this threat.
I think our location will be a succesful buffer which Islam will have a hard time breaching, but time is on their side.
Thank God history is not.

Most of us around here believe that even 6 million human beings with all of our carbon output and all of the pollution, deforestation, etc. are incapable of making any long term meaningful change to the global climate.
Why should we believe that one man, no matter how odious or naive, is capable of turning the USA into Tehran in one generation?
Jimmy Carter lead us a long way down the path of good intentions, but we did not enter Hell.
Obama may do likewise, but I still have faith that there are enough good Americans around that we will be keeping this ship afloat long after he is out of the public eye.
McCain seems like he would be a better choice than Obama, but I am not so excited about him either. Either way the US will be worse off four years from now than it is today.
But then we can hope for another conservative resurgence.

No. All FBI employees must be United States citizens. If you are a U.S. citizen and hold dual citizenship with another country, the FBI Security Division will have to review your file to make a determination if you are eligible for employment with the FBI.
