I have a hard time believing that the NY Times, et al really want an Islamic Caliphate to come into being.
They are definitely aiding and abetting in undermining our morals and our morale, and setting us up for defeat, but when the Islamists start to take control ... if they ever do ... then I believe the leftists will turn against them.
The leftists did fight against Franco, and so there is some historical case to be made that the leftists will be on our side if a bitter fight to the death ever shapes up.

True. The biggest problem with the leftist mentality, at least in this regard, is that they are willfully ignorant of the threat against them and all too often are willing to champion the enemies of freedom.

I have to agree with Mark Steyn however that Europe is on the brink of Islamization, and the U.S. has displayed a great weakness in view of this threat.
I think our location will be a succesful buffer which Islam will have a hard time breaching, but time is on their side.
