World Terrorism: News, History and Research Of A Changing World #12 Security Watch
Homeland Security National Terror Alert ^ | July 28, 2008 | Homeland Security News

Is U.S. Bioterror Attack Just A Matter of Time?

The overriding question is whether the U.S. is “ready” for a bioterror attack. The answer could well rely on the “other” question of what bio-agent and what’s the source? In 1991, 40,000 Russian scientists dispersed throughout the World, with knowledge of what the U.S.S.R. was doing in chemical and biological weapons. The question is to whom did they sell their knowledge? Some believe former Soviet scientists sold technology to countries like Iran, Syria, and North Korea. Lurking is the spectre of al-Qaeda, a group that the Pentagon says continues to pursue biological weapons.

Another scenario is an outbreak of a pandemic. How would the U.S. deal with an infectious disease outbreak? The picture, despite reassurances, is not pretty. Until now, the U.S. has experienced two major biological attacks.

In 1984, the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his followers attempted to take over the town of the Dalles, Oregon by contaminating salad bars in the town. In 2001, there was the as yet unsolved mystery of the anthrax letters that killed five people.

But the question of bioterrorism extends to potential threats against our food supply and our clean water resources. It also extends to the threat of outbreaks of diseases in our animals populations. Here, the concern are diseases that attack animals but that can jump to humans. These are referred to as zoonotic diseases. The World Health Organization defines zonnotic diseases as:

Al-Qaeda recovered due to sanctuaries in Pakistan: CIA
Pajhwok Correspondent - Nov 14, 2008 - 11:04

NEW YORK (PAN): CIA Director, Michael Hayden, said Thursday that the
Al Qaeda’s safe haven in Pakistan has allowed the terrorists outfit to
recover some capacity lost when expelled from Afghanistan seven years ago.

“Al Qaida’s sanctuary along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, in those
tribal areas, has allowed it to recover some of the capacity lost when
it was expelled from Afghanistan almost seven years ago now,” Hayden
said in his address before the Atlantic Council, a Washington-based
think tank.

“The group has reconstituted some training and operational
capabilities. It’s increased its recruitment and its propaganda
efforts. It’s established a more durable leadership structure. It’s
built redundancies into it’s plotting, and it’s developed a bench of
skilled operatives to carry plans forward when other plans are
disrupted,” he said.

All of that activity is enabled by a fairly recent development, and
that’s Al Qaida’s ties to local tribes, the CIA Director observed.
“The terrorist group — here I’m talking about Al Qaida — has
developed a close codependent relationship with Pashtun extremists and
separatist groups,” he said.

Al Qaida, foreigners in a land that’s long been suspicious of
foreigners, has been able to curry favor with locals by supporting
their causes, training their fighters, funding their operations, and,
importantly, showing sufficient deference to tribal leaders, he said.

Hayden said Bin Laden’s lieutenants worked in concert with Pakistani
militant groups as long as the operational goals of those groups don’t
conflict with Al Qaida’s own strategic objectives. Increasingly, ties
to the tribes are being made a bit more permanent through
intermarriage, he said.

Observing that the safe haven in the tribal region, in the FATA, is
not comparable to what Al Qaida had in Afghanistan in terms of either
security or scale, but he said it is more worrisome today than it was
two or three years ago.

Cross-border attacks in Afghanistan are more violent and aggressive,
as are Al Qaida’s efforts to destabilize Pakistan itself.
“Furthermore, we’re seeing a disturbing emphasis on the recruitment,
training and deployment of Western operatives,” he said, adding: “What
do I mean by Western operatives? Those are people who may not elicit
any notice whatsoever from you if they were standing next to you in
the airport line.”

The cross-over point for Al Qaida’s foothold in the tribal areas was
probably in September of 2006 when the governor of North Waziristan
signed a peace agreement with local militants. Now, that truce set in
motion a whole series of events and decisions that gave Al Qaida a lot
more breathing space than it had had previously.

“Today, virtually every major terrorist threat that my agency is aware
of has threads back to the tribal areas. Whether it’s command and
control, training, direction, money, capabilities, there is a
connection to the FATA,” Hayden said.

“It is no overstatement to say that Al Qaida’s base in Pakistan is the
single most important factor today in the group’s resilience and its
ability to threaten the West,” Hayden said.

Pakistani woman called mentally unfit for U.S. trial

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081117/us_nm/us_usa_qaeda_siddiqui_1

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A Pakistani woman suspected of links to al Qaeda and
charged with trying to kill American interrogators in Afghanistan is
mentally unfit to stand trial, according to her psychiatric evaluation.

Aafia Siddiqui, 36, is “not currently competent to proceed as a result of
her mental disease, which renders her unable to understand the nature and
consequences of the proceedings against her,” U.S. District Judge Richard
Berman said on Monday while reporting the results of the evaluation.

UK doctor admitted “I am a terrorist”

November 17, 2008

Doctor admits he is ‘a terrorist’

Dr Bilal Abdulla

Dr Abdulla denies trying to kill or injure anyone through car bomb attacks

An NHS doctor accused of attempted car bombings in London and at Glasgow Airport has admitted that according to English law he is a terrorist.

Bilal Abdulla, 29, is alleged to have crashed into the airport in a Jeep laden with petrol and gas canisters.

But he told a jury he never wanted to kill or injure anyone.

Dr Abdulla, from Paisley, and Dr Mohammed Asha, 27, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, deny conspiracies to murder and to cause explosions.

The defence has said that Dr Abdulla and friend Kafeel Ahmed, 28, wanted to highlight the plight of people in Iraq and Afghanistan with a series of incendiary device attacks in June 2007.

Dr Asha is accused of supplying them with cash and advice.

A jury at Woolwich Crown Court heard Dr Abdulla had told police in Scotland “something along those lines” that he was a terrorist shortly after being arrested.
From day one - we said we will not kill or injure any innocent person.
Dr Bilal Abdulla

Dr Abdulla told the court: “Everyone was saying you are a terrorist, you are arrested under the Terrorism Act and so forth.

“That is my case in a nutshell. I am told I am a terrorist, but is your government not a terrorist, is your army not a terrorist?

“By the definition of the Act, according to English law, yes. That is my aim to change opinion using violence, using fire devices.”

Dr Abdulla told the jury that after attacks on London’s West End had failed, he planned to flee to Iraq, via Turkey, because it would be “much easier to disappear” in a lawless country.

But as he approached the airport, Ahmed suddenly swerved the Jeep into the terminal building without warning.

Petrol bombs

“He drove through the barrier and I got alarmed and I shouted ‘What are you doing, what is happening?’,” said Dr Abdulla.

“I had never seen Kafeel’s face like that in my life. He was determined, his foot was on the accelerator and he did not respond to me at all.”

Dr Abdulla admitted throwing petrol bombs as he got out of the burning vehicle. But he claimed he had tossed them away to protect himself after Ahmed had passed one to him, accidentally lighting the others in the process.

He said he could not recall exactly what happened afterwards, adding: “I know that I had struggled with people, I received punches and I punched back.”

Ahmed, an Indian engineering student, died one month after the attack from critical burns after dousing himself in petrol.

Dr Abdulla told the court: “From day one, we said we will not kill or injure any innocent person.

“This incident, if it was to kill people or cause an explosion, we would not have done it that way. It looks very clumsy.”

The trial continues.

On November 17, 2008, the UnitedStatesAction.com Yahoo newslinks included a reference to another article from the Asia Times addressing the recent comments by Professor Muhammad Sven Kalisch. The Asia TImes provides yet another analysis and further translation of Kalisch’s report in German beyond the November 15 Higgins’ WSJ article.

The November 15, 2008 WSJ report by Higgins on Kalisch is at:

JihadWatch has a report on the Higgins article at:

Scandal exposes Islam’s weakness
By Spengler
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/JK18Aa01.html

Among other comments the Spengler report compares Kalisch’s analysis to Gnostic commentary:

“Did you hear about the German Gnostic?”
“He couldn’t keep a secret.”

“Just such a Teutonic mystic is Professor Muhammad Sven Kalisch, a German convert to Islam who teaches Muslim theology at the University of Munster. Kalisch recently laid a Gnostic egg in the nest of Islam, declaring that the Prophet Mohammed never existed, not at least in the way that the received version of Islamic tradition claims he did. Given that Kalisch holds an academic chair specifically funded to instruct teachers of Islam in Germany’s school system, a scandal ensued, first reported in the mainstream English-language press by Andrew Higgins in the November 15 edition of the Wall Street Journal. “

This commentary by Spengler expands on the excerpt of Kalisch’s report found on the WSJ at:

For additional background, Der Spiegel did an interview on September 18, 2008 with “Islam scholar Michael Marx” regarding Muhammad. In that September inteview, which was part of the UnitedStatesAction newslinks that day, Michael Marx also addresses Kalisch’s views. In summary, Marx dismisses Kalisch’s views as that of a minority of scholars:

In this report, Expatica stated:

“BERLIN - Germany’s first professor for Islamic religion has criticised talk of
an alleged Islamist threat in the country amid increasing political calls for
foreigners to do more to integrate themselves into German society.”

“Muhammad Sven Kalisch, professor for the religion of Islam at the University of

between Islam and the western world ‘is being so exaggerated in the way it is
now.’ “

NATO spy could have passed on missile defence, cyber-war secrets to Russia

Irish Sun
Monday 17th November, 2008
(ANI)

London, Nov.17 : An Estonian defence ministry official, who was
arrested in September, could have passed on secrets on the US missile
shield and cyber-defence to Russian Intelligence, while working with NATO.

Herman Simm, 61, is being accused of handling all of his country’s
classified information at NATO, giving him access to every top-secret
graded document from other alliance countries.

He was recruited by the Russians in the late 1980s and has been
charged in Estonia with supplying information to a foreign power,
reports The Times.

Several investigation teams from both the EU and NATO, under the
supervision of a US officer, have flown to the Estonian capital
Tallinn to assess the scope of what is being seen as the most serious
case of espionage against NATO since the end of the Cold War.

On the face of it, the Simm case resembles the old-fashioned Cold War
spy story. He used a converted radio transmitter to set up meetings
with his contact, apparently someone posing as a Spanish businessman.

As in the 1950s and 1960s, it seems that the operation was a
husband-and-wife team. His wife Heete - who previously worked as a
lawyer at the national police headquarters - has also been detained on
charges of being an accessory to treason.

Simm was ensnared because of blunders that have dogged modern
espionage ever since the KGB first pitted itself against the West.

Second, his contact officer got careless and tried to recruit a second
agent - who reported the incident to the security authorities.

That is when the Estonian mole-hunters began to reconstruct the
movements of the supposed Spaniard and followed the thread back to the
agent inside NATO.

Tea Fire Cause is Determined
Fire the Result of Carelessness Caused When Bonfire Left Unattended

By Ray Ford

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

At a 4 p.m. press conference, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown announced that as a result of an anonymous tip, investigators were able to identify ten young adults as those responsible for the cause of the Tea Fire. Brown described them as between the ages of 18 and 22, area residents, and a mixture of males and females. Brown also described them as all coming from one school and being cooperative with investigators.

The breakthrough resulting in their identification came as a result of the appeal made to the community to provide information regarding the fire. Over forty tips were received, including one anonymous tip relating to a party that had occurred at an area on the east end of the ridgeline overlooking Cold Springs Canyon known as the Tea Garden.

The cause of the fire appears to be the result of carelessness rather than criminal intent. Sometime Wednesday evening, November 12, the ten apparently headed up to the Tea Garden to party and this including starting what the Sheriff called a bonfire. When they left sometime between 3 and 5 a.m. Thursday morning, those who attended the gathering told investigators that they thought they had put out the fire, which was built near a wall in the Tea Garden area. Rather than dying out, coals from the fire continued to smolder throughout the day and ignited when the strong sundowner winds picked up Thursday evening.

Brown declined to identify those involved and added that the investigation is still ongoing. At this time reports are being prepared and submitted to the District Attorney’s office which will decide if any criminal charges will be filed. Anyone with additional information regarding the start of the Tea Fire is encouraged to call the Tip Line at (805) 681-4171.

Press Release

For Immediate Release
November 19, 2008

Washington D.C.
FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

Reward Increased for Operation Backfire Fugitives

Today, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced an increased reward for information about fugitives being sought for their role in a domestic terrorism cell. Specifically, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Josephine Sunshine Overaker, Joseph Mahmoud Dibee, Justin Franchi Solondz, and Rebecca Rubin. These individuals were members of the domestic terrorism cell, referred to as “The Family,” whose criminal actions included vandalism, animal releases, arsons, and attempted arsons across Oregon, Washington, California, Wyoming, and Colorado.

“We depend on the assistance of our domestic and international law enforcement partners in this ongoing fugitive search,” said Executive Assistant Director Arthur M. Cummings, II, of the FBI’s National Security Branch. “These individuals are terrorists; regardless of their political or social message, their actions were criminal and violated federal laws. The FBI has remained steadfast in the search for these individuals and is making every effort to locate these fugitives and bring them to justice.”

From 1996 to 2001, these individuals conducted a range of criminal actions throughout the United States in the name of the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and Earth Liberation Front (ELF). They were responsible for at least 25 domestic terrorism criminal actions totaling over $48 million in damages, including the largest eco-related arson in history, a $26 million arson at the Vail Ski Resort in Vail, Colorado. To date, Operation Backfire has resulted in the indictment of 17 individuals for eco-terrorism criminal activities, four of which remain at large, possibly overseas.

“The crimes perpetrated by ALF and ELF have proven violent and potentially deadly, as the criminals use sophisticated incendiary devices, pipe bombs, and tactics” said ATF Deputy Assistant Director William McMahon. “As these fugitives are still on the run, law enforcement must remain aggressive in our pursuit. The ATF will continue to work with the FBI to battle the twin menaces of violent crime and terrorism.”
Detailed descriptions of these fugitives are available on www.fbi.gov. These fugitives are considered armed and dangerous. If you have information concerning any of them, please do not take any independent action. We ask that you contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.

FBI AGENT KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

Pittsburgh, PA—Special Agent Samuel Hicks, assigned to the Pittsburgh FBI Office, was fatally shot today while executing a federal search warrant associated with a drug distribution ring. One suspect is in custody and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is being conducted.

Special Agent Hicks, 33, joined the FBI in March 2007 and reported to the Pittsburgh Office in August 2007. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Special Agent Hicks is a former police officer with the Baltimore Police Department and also worked as a teacher. He is survived by his wife and three-year-old son.

TRENTON – A jury today convicted former New Jersey State Sen. Wayne R. Bryant on all corruption charges against him for unlawfully using his power and influence to obtain a paid, low-show job at UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in exchange for lobbying and bringing millions of dollars in extra funding to the school, and using that job and others to fraudulently nearly triple his state pension, U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie announced.

The former dean at the School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM) in Stratford, R. Michael Gallagher, 59, of Haddonfield, was also found guilty of capitalized on Bryant’s influence to become dean and, in turn, rigged the hiring process to create a job for Bryant at SOM that appeared to be a legitimate, bona fide position.

Bryant was convicted on Counts One through Count Six with mail and wire fraud for their alleged scheme to defraud the public of Bryant’s honest services by use of the mails and wires. Gallagher was also convicted of Count One through Count Three and Counts Five and Six; the defendant was found not guilty of Count Four. Bryant was convicted of Count Seven with corrupt solicitation and acceptance (from Gallagher) of a bribe (the SOM job) involving an organization receiving federal funds. Gallagher, in turn, was convicted of Count Eight with corruptly offering a bribe (to Bryant) involving an organization receiving federal funds.

Bryant alone was convicted of Count Nine through Count 13 with mail fraud for his alleged scheme to defraud the New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits of money and property by use of the mails

“Today one of New Jersey’s once most powerful politicians has been convicted of twelve felony charges for placing his own personal greed ahead of the interests of the good people of the State of New Jersey,” Christie said. “Once again elected and non-elected officials are put on notice, no officeholder or public employee will be permitted to turn public service into self-service in violation of the law.”

There are a number of fact-dependent determinations that will be made at sentencing. However, under certain scenarios, the defendants would be facing an advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines sentence of over 15 years. The Sentencing Guidelines, however, are advisory only, and U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson will have discretion in imposing sentence within or outside of that range. Parole has been abolished in the federal system. Defendants who are given custodial terms must serve nearly all that time.

The jury began deliberating at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 and returned a verdict at 1:00 p.m. Judge Wolfson, who presided over the nearly 11-week trial, scheduled sentencing for both defendants on March 20, 2009.

The case was tried by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra, Jr., and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua Drew and Adam S. Lurie.

In convicting Bryant and Gallagher, the jury found that the job at SOM amounted to a bribe from Gallagher, which was solicited by Bryant. The jury heard that Gallagher was elevated from Vice Dean to Interim Dean and finally, in November 2002, to permanent Dean at SOM with Bryant’s help, which included arranging meetings between Gallagher and state legislators and drafting a letter to the Governor supporting Gallagher. The jury found that in March 2003, Gallagher in turn put Bryant on the SOM payroll and in doing so committing fraudulent acts and acts of concealment.

The jury also found that from his position at SOM, Bryant used his power and influence as Senator and Chairman of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee to directly lobby state agencies, high-level officials (including the state Treasurer), legislators and their staffs and personally directed changes in the state budget to bring millions of dollars in extra funding to SOM. All the while, Bryant failed to reveal that he was simultaneously on the payroll at SOM, receiving a high salary of $40,841 in 2004, and, in fact, used various means to conceal his purported role at SOM.

The jury also found that beginning in July 2002 Bryant engaged in the pension-padding scheme by taking on public positions for which he did no meaningful work. During the trial, the jury viewed evidence and heard testimony which showed that Bryant took salaries from UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM), the Gloucester County Board of Social Services and Rutgers University Camden and its law school, even as he did little to no meaningful work in return for those government salaries and other benefits.

Bryant was individually and specifically hired by the Gloucester County Board of Social Services (GCBSS) to perform legal services. Instead, he dispatched employees of his private law firm to provide those legal services; yet he personally received a salary and accrued retirement benefits. From mid-2002 through about August 2006, Bryant worked a total of about 14.8 hours for GCBSS, yet received approximately $200,000 of pensionable income. Throughout the period Bryant submitted false and fraudulent signed attorney time sheets which declared that he personally had done the work.

At SOM, Gallagher caused personnel records to indicate that Bryant worked the equivalent of three full days a week in order to make Bryant eligible for pension credits on his SOM salary. In fact, according to testimony, Bryant showed up only for about half a day once a week, did no meaningful work, and instead spent much of the time reading the newspaper. As a result of those frauds, Bryant’s anticipated annual pension from government positions went from about $28,000 in 2002 to about $81,268 in 2006.

Gallagher remains under indictment on another set of charges for his alleged scheme to created phony “profits” on financial statements for SOM’s University Headache Center, where Gallagher also served as chairman. Those “profits” resulted in additional annual bonuses to Gallagher – determined by Gallagher himself as chairman of the Headache Center – of between $15,000 and $20,000 in each of 2002, 2003 and 2004. With salary and bonuses, Gallagher had compensation that ranged from between $345,000 to $402,000 from 2003 to 2005. Judge Wolfson, in motions decided before the trial of Bryant and Gallagher, severed that set of charges from the government’s original Indictment, necessitating two trials for Gallagher and one for Bryant. Christie said he will consult within the office and with federal investigative agencies before deciding how to proceed on those charges.

Christie credited Special Agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun, with the investigation leading to today’s conviction.

KAAA radio news, 1230 am radio.

A plane took off from Henderson, Nevada and did an emergency landing at the Kingman Airport.

Less than a 100 mile flight.

Glass fell off the plane, into one Kingman yard.

Metal fell off the plane in one Kingman yard.

It is thought that other “fell off the plane” parts will be found.

How could a plane simply fall apart in the air?

Oil, U.S. Auto Industry, Jihad, and Islamic Supremacism

November 19, 2008

As the U.S. automobile industry seeks funds from the U.S. government, Americans need to ask if this industry understands that Islamic supremacists are at war with America, and how the automobile industry is going to change its product lines to recognize the need to reduce petrodollars to our Islamic supremacist enemies.

After the 9/11 attacks, I looked in the mirror and asked myself that, if I was going to do to challenge others on Jihad and Islamic supremacism, what was I going to immediately change in my own life. I had to be able to walk the walk - personally. Among other answers, the easiest one for me was to commit to driving out Jihadists by using a fuel-efficient vehicle or other non-oil based transportation as much as possible. I am not suggesting that this is all it takes for America’s energy independence crisis, nor is this a solution that will work for everyone. But we have to be able to show willingness to change and sacrifice as individuals in the larger and longer human rights war against Islamic supremacism.

Of the 19 suspected 9/11 hijackers, 13 came from Saudi Arabia. What does Saudi Arabia export other than oil and Islamic supremacism? Sand? After 9/11, it did not require a political science degree to figure out that a key focus in our economic war against Islamic supremacism had to include a focus on America’s energy and oil independence from Saudi Arabia, other Islamic supremacist nations, and other foreign nations.

So what happened after 9/11 to Saudi Arabia? Did American leadership cut off its flow of petrodollars from the U.S.? Did American leadership view Saudi Arabia’s Islamic supremacist ideology to be an enemy of America? In fact, Saudi Arabia became wealthier, got more American petrodollars after 9/11, and incredibly, was named as an “ally” of America in a “war on terror” that refused to define the enemy or its ideology.

How did American industry react to the 9/11 Islamic supremacist act of war against America? Did U.S. oil industries shun Saudi Arabia and other Islamic supremacist providers, and promote alternative energy sources? Did U.S. automakers aggressively promote fuel-efficient vehicles to minimize the petrodollars continuing to flow to Islamic supremacist nations? None of these happened. Neither the U.S. oil nor the automobile industries have recognized that America is at war with Islamic supremacism.

As American taxpayer dollars are being asked to bailout the U.S. automobile industry without strings, a history lesson of the U.S. automobile industry’s response to the 9/11 attacks would be valuable.

In 2002, an example of General Motors’ (GM) offer of “innovation” in response to acts of war by Islamic supremacists on America was to have “AM General... assembling the HUMMER H2, a new ‘next generation’ sport utility vehicle designed by GM, at a new factory in Mishawaka” - for American consumer use at approximately 10 mpg. In 2001, GM also had an electric automobile known as the EV1, which you might have never heard about. I know about this because, after the 9/11 attacks, I repeatedly contacted GM about trying to purchase or lease an EV1 or even get on the waiting list for a future version (”GenII”) of the EV1. In fact, what GM told me was that the EV1s were not available to anyone outside of California, and I am on the East Coast. No matter who I contacted in GM Sales, the answer was the same - they did not want to sell me a GM EV1 electric automobile at any price, under any condition. (You can see from this September 11, 2002 EV1 white paper that I was not only one who could not obtain an EV1 from GM.) GM was more concerned with California’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate than it was with acts of war against America. Just over two months after the 9/11 attacks in 2001, GM was already collecting EV1 electric automobiles to take them off the market and crush them. By 2003, GM had officially ended the EV1 electric automobile program; GM donated one to the Smithsonian museum. Where is GM’s progress for fuel-efficient vehicles at today? Among GM’s 2009 vehicles, GM offers a hybrid SUV (offering “an astounding EPA estimated MPG 21 city”), hybrid truck (”limited availability early 2009”), and states that it will offer “very limited availability” for its 2009 Malibu Hybrid. In 2010, nine years after the 9/11 attacks, GM claims that it will also offer another electric vehicle, the Volt. In the meantime, GM continues to predominantly manufacture and market vehicles that will ensure the maximum petrodollars go to Islamic supremacist nations.

In early 2002, a division of Ford Motor Company’s TH!NK announced that it was going to produce a series of small electric automobiles for use in California and New York City. However, later that year, Ford announced that it was going to halt production of such electric automobiles, and in 2003, Ford abandoned its nascent efforts to counter America’s oil dependence on Islamic supremacist nations, and sold the company to a European company for production overseas. A year later in 2004, Ford announced plans to crush its remaining TH!NK electric automobiles, later deciding to send 300 of them to Norway. Concerns about ending America’s oil dependence on Islamic supremacist nations was the furthest thing from Ford’s mind. Later in 2004, Ford developed a “hybrid SUV” (now that’s a “hybrid” for certain) called the Ford Escape hybrid SUV. U.S. Senator John Kerry was famous for promising that he was going to buy and promote one; needless to say after the 2004 election, we have never heard about that subject again from Senator Kerry. The 2009 Ford Hybrid Escape states that it gets an estimated 34 mpg city, significantly less fuel-efficiency than hybrid vehicles offered by Honda or Toyota. Ford continues to predominantly manufacture and market vehicles that will ensure the maximum petrodollars go to Islamic supremacist nations.

When it comes to fuel-efficient vehicles to cut off petrodollars to Islamic supremacist nations, we have had nothing but counterproductive products, half-measures, and endless promises from GM and Ford. In the meantime, Islamic supremacism has continued to grow in America and around the world.

What did I do about it? Since both GM and Ford refused to take my money and sell me a fuel-efficient vehicle that would limit petrodollars to our Islamic supremacist enemies, I had to go elsewhere. In early 2002, with the remains of the World Trade Center still nothing but a pit and a wing of the Pentagon still in shambles, there was no American leadership or business focus on stopping the flow of petrodollars to our enemies, nor was it a priority. In our nation’s capital, there was virtually no interest in hybrid automobiles. But in early 2002, I started driving a hybrid automobile as a strike against Jihad and Islamic supremacism. We started by selling our old automobile and getting a Honda Insight hybrid automobile. When we went to the automobile dealer 10 miles from the White House, it was a real battle to get such a hybrid automobile. The DC area Honda sales person tried to persuade me not to buy a Honda Insight hybrid automobile. They were hidden in a back lot and literally covered with dust; they had to wash one off to show it to me. That’s how unimportant fuel-efficient vehicles were in the Washington DC area after the 9/11 attacks. I was personally uncomfortable with buying a foreign-made automobile, and it was the first I had owned. But I felt that I had no other option, if I was to focus the war of ideas against Islamic supremacism, I had to do what I could personally to stop their funding through petrodollars. We still drive our 2002 Honda Insight hybrid today, as well as a 2005 Toyota Prius hybrid. As a result of GM’s and Ford’s unwillingness to recognize the need to modify its products to deal with the Islamic supremacist war on America, we have been unable to purchase a GM or Ford automobile since the 9/11 attacks on America.

Afterwards, I continued to try to promote fuel-efficient vehicles as part of a campaign against Islamic supremacism and Jihad. I soon learned that there was very little interest in this tactic. I went to political events, campaign events, public affairs events, and tried to get the public to cut off the petrodollars to Islamic supremacists. My efforts on this have been met, on every level, with a resounding silence and disinterest. I am well aware that this is not a popular issue to discuss. I am also not suggesting that fuel-efficient automobiles alone will solve our energy independence from Islamic supremacist nations. But when will America decide that this is a necessary issue to address? The fact remains that not only has GM and Ford been unwilling to do anything about this issue, our government and much of the American public has been unwilling to do anything as well.

In the meantime, what has grown is this tacit acceptance among the American governmental leadership, the American automobile industry, and the American public that we won’t talk about the need for fuel-efficient vehicles to help in cutting back petrodollars to Islamic supremacist nations. Glittering generalities are fine; everyone is for someone else to do something about it. But calling for accountability and actually doing anything about it, well, that isn’t polite discussion.

But as American taxpayers get ready to hand over (either by a bailout or a bankruptcy - we pay) tax dollars to GM and Ford, when exactly will it be the right time to talk about the need for fuel-efficient vehicles in reducing petrodollars to Islamic supremacist nations? Why not now when we have GM’s and Ford’s attention? Isn’t it about time that these companies with a very checkered history when America has been at war to step up and prove that if they want American taxpayer dollars that they recognize and will support America’s national security priorities?

Did Americans all have to read Robert Baer’s book in 2003 “Sleeping with the Devil” to understand how petrodollars had further empowered Saudi Arabia to spread Islamic supremacism around the world? Did America really need to wait until the 2005 Freedom House report on how Saudi Arabia was spreading Islamic supremacism in the United States to act on energy independence? Even so, wasn’t that 3 to 5 years ago? We need American leadership that can define the war against Islamic supremacism clearly enough to the American people that they don’t have to wait until gasoline is $4.00/gallon to seek to drive fuel-efficient vehicles. Moreover, they need the U.S. automobile industries to deliver products in line with America’s national security interests during war.

Four years ago, President Bush stated during his campaign for re-election that America’s energy independence was going to be a key national security issue and priority. Such false promises have resulted in petrodollars continuing to flow from the U.S. to Islamic supremacist nations as much, if not greater, than before. Islamic supremacist Sharia finance has expanded and grown over the past four years. On November 6, 2008, the U.S. Treasury held a training session on Islamic supremacist Sharia finance and a week later, on November 10, the U.S. Federal Reserve Board announced that it was purchasing $40 billion of AIG preferred shares of stock, while AIG has continued to own divisions that promote and sell Islamic supremacist Sharia finance investment and insurance products. As a result, American taxpayers now own part of a Sharia finance business. Are American taxpayers next going to support automobile manufacturers selling products to ensure our Islamic supremacist enemies get the maximum amount of petrodollars?

The failure to have accountability in national business and economic decisions that support and embolden the Islamic supremacist enemy remains a national disgrace. The root of this problem can be found in the failure to define the enemy and the enemy’s ideology in Islamic supremacism and to declare unequivocal total war on Islamic supremacism, using every tactic, including economic measures.

On November 13, 2008, at a Saudi-sponsored “interfaith conference,” Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz told world leaders that Islamic supremacism practiced in Saudi Arabia supports peace, justice and tolerance, while President Bush replied that freedom includes “the right to choose or change religions and the right to worship in private or public.” Those are noble sentiments by President Bush, but what has he done in terms of Saudi Arabia or any other Islamic supremacist nation to defend those rights? Has he sought to constrain Islamic supremacist Sharia finance? Has he sought to stop petrodollars to Saudi Arabia and other nations? Has he accomplished any significant initiatives to gain our energy independence from Islamic supremacist nations? Has he made all Islamic supremacist nations a pariah? Has he identified Islamic supremacism as an enemy ideology? The answer to all of these questions, of course, is no.

Believing in the need to defend equality and liberty should be a fundamental part of each American’s identity. But the real test of this American virtue is deciding to actually do more than just talk about it.

In fighting the culture wars for America, we need to stay focused on fighting for what America’s culture is truly all about, and not view our culture as only based on consumer goods and recreational activities. America is not merely about baseball, apple pie, and Chevrolets. We are at war, and the Islamic supremacist enemy continues to gain power every day. Remembering what we are fighting for is essential for us to win this war.

America’s culture war is about living and defending the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty. America is about the idea that all men and women are created equal. Equality and liberty are the basis of our culture war for America against Islamic supremacism, not gas-guzzling vehicles that give endless petrodollars to our Islamic supremacist enemies, and not businesses that refuse to put America’s interests first during war-time.

If GM and Ford want a hand out from American taxpayers (either via bailout or bankruptcy protection), they need to commit to business practices that recognize American values and recognize that Islamic supremacists continue to be at war with America. Energy independence will not be gained from fuel-efficient automobiles alone. It is a much greater and complex issue than that. But if American leadership, American business, and the American public can’t even start to address such a basic step in energy independence through improved fuel-efficient automobiles, we can’t hope to stop handing money to our Islamic supremacist enemies that seek to destroy us, and who seek to destroy every hope there is for defending equality and liberty.

We can’t let that happen. Too many hopeless, helpless people are counting on us to act.

Fear No Evil.
