I agree. And I think it was then they thought “wow! Not only can we cause a President to leave office,we could even decide who gets to BE President.” They've been trying to do exactly that ever since. And they've become emboldened as there was no one nor nothing to take them to task, until the Internet came along. They absolutely refuse to give up their pretension's of power! “Why, it just can't be over”, they think while watching their customer's draw away in disgust.

In 1972 Nixon won the fourth largest landslide in history - a list topped by George Washington's two unanimous elections in an infinitely less populous USA. The powers that be initially used mass media to drive Agnew from office, replacing him with the liberal Republican Ford. With an acceptable replacement in place mass media elites masterfully took down a most popular president (for perceived sins against communism in actuality). Mass media's propaganda proved so effective that to this very day a large segment of population views the omnipotent mass media monopoly of the early 1970s as a victim of Nixon's white house.
