Join us this weekend for some racing on hallowed ground.
God bless our troops, families and this nation under God.
This thread is dedicated to the men and women in our country's armed forces defending our freedoms.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Pocono can’t be any worse. Can it?

NASCAR needs to step up to prevent future debacles. (Goodyear dude: “nobody’s fault”)

Now look what's happening to NASCAR. Juan Pablo Montoya. See a pattern.
Me I like to watch any kind of racing. I don't matter if it's a local dirt track or NASCAR. Sports cars or Drag Racing. ESPN use to have a show Thursday Night Thunder with midwest USAC cars I thought was great.
I like racing where there is passing and lead changes. I also like the banging. The problem with F1 is that the winner is typically determined in the first lap.
LOL about Indy car racing. I remember a Homestead race last year, or the year before. It was foreigners, a few chicks, and sons and grandsons of previous Indy 500 winners. It also started 45 mins late - typical Miami.
I’m wondering if they insist on running at this terrible track maybe they should run the restrictor plates. I’d love to see something that would bunch them up at Pocono if we have to suffer through that TWICE each season.
I guess all we have to look forward to is how many will blow up down the long straightaways.. heck, they just tweaked the ‘yota plate too..
You’re not hinting at racing twice a year at ‘Darlington again? ;-)
I hear ya.
You're right that it was before the 70s, and you're wrong about never. AJ Foyt, for instance, who never stepped in a Formula One car, has participated in several F1 races by virtue of his Indy 500s.
There is no one winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
While there are different classes, there is an overall winner. Google Tom Kristensen, who holds the record for most victories at Le Mans. Or Graham Hill, who won Le Mans, a couple F1 championships, and Indy.
Twice at Darlington (one in the Chase), and once at Rocky and I would love to see a special none-points all for the money run at Sebring in winter.
Could you give me a citation on when the Indianapolis 500 counted in the Formula One Championship? When was that?
I meant a little of both. A whole lot has changed in the sport over the years and I really don’t think any one driver can do justice in two different disciplines.
That said, I think there would be minimal desire to jump back and forth anyway. Most of the drivers schedules are pretty packed now. A race on Friday night and then Saturday or Saturday and then Sunday is feasible IF they are in the same location. Having to hop on a chopper to jump to a jet between races would wear quite heavily on anyone.
I think he did just fine. He’s got a new team to watch out for now. ;)
Sunday was a disaster for Goodyear and Nascar and most of all the fans that paid big money to be there. I wonder if there was anything that could have been done to the spoiler to unload the right side tires...
After I've given it some thought, I really don't understand why it side loaded so bad compared to the older cars and/or Indy cars.
Do you think too light of a spring package, causing excessive roll-over, be the culprit? Didn't seem like there was ANY wear on the left side tars. Or if there was, I never saw it.
Isn't it convenient that most have forgotten the multi-lap victories of the 70s?
It was all in the big wing!
How in the world did we miss this... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2052661/posts?page=1
So, it was all an attempt to bring back “thrill” racing?
I think it is the high center of gravity vs the Indy cars.
The height of the car didn’t change that much with COT, did it?
I think it is taller and there is a higher percentage of weight higher up.
May be, that’s why I posed the question.
Didn’t seem to be when I was at TMS weekend before last. They had both cars out there, we got to drive the old ones. :)
If there was a height differential, it was negligible. One the elevation of a weight differential, I will defer to you. :)
