Romney moves up as Potential McCain VP
NPR ^ | July 20 | Ron Elving

Posted on 07/20/2008 9:07:44 AM PDT by ConservativeMan55

Once upon a time, people who wanted to be president were not expected to admit it in public. This mask of false indifference had to be dropped when the rise of primaries forced candidates to campaign actively for the office.

Because he's a liberal, right? But here's the rub - I don't vote for liberals no matter what party happens to be listed behind their name.

I am not voting against Obama because he is a liberal, I am voting against him because we have troops in harm's way and I truly believe that electing the candidate of choice among our enemies would jepordize the safety of our brave fighting men and women. I will vote for McCain no matter who he picks as a running mate, even though I can't stand McCain. There is a single issue McCain and I agree; supporting our troops and winning the war on terror.

Do you realize how an Obama victory will invigorate those who wish to destroy the United States?

There are many choices out there who are more conservative than Romney. Many, many.

Suggestions?

And please don't say Fred Thompson.

I am also against laws that forbid abortion.

Are you also against laws forbidding other types of murder?

Greg Gutfield was just on Foxnews.

He said Obama resembles a hot stripper at the club.

You see all the best parts now but just wait till you get her home LOL!

There is more to voting than just the WOT. I notice from your earlier post that you don't believe laws should be enacted to prohibit the murder of unborn children, so perhaps we're just at a different place with regard to how dear we hold our principles.

Okay, how many times is this trial balloon going to be floated???

It is totally mind-boggling that the short-sighted starry-eyed Mitt worshipers REALLY believe that somehow the racist past of Romney's mormon ancestors is going to magically disappear from the view of voters.

Do they not see that Obama is one of those "unworthy" black men who were kept in the back of the bus of the mormon world for 150 years? Do they REALLY believe that the tax-exemption-for-the-LDS-church inspired "revelation" in 1978 makes all those previous years of racism disappear?

Do they REALLY not see that Romney on the republican ticket effectively neuters any and all possibility of republicans using the Jeremiah Wright hate speech in campaign ads against Obama? Oh, yeah, I've seen posts that say that Wright cancels out mormonism racism...well the reverse is true! And folks, the Evangelicals are not going to be swayed into voting for liberal McCain by the addition of liberal mormon Romney to the ticket.

Just WHAT "audience" is this Romney propaganda fest aimed at? FReepers that would be moved into the Romney column have already been moved. This looks like a "pat each other on the back for every single little hint that Romney's attempt to buy the white house" hasn't failed...YET" rally of the troops in an effort to "hose" more cash out of the faithful's pockets.

THAT "hosing" will surely work better than the last failed effort did!

I am very opposed to abortion and I try to help people arrive at a decision to carry their babies to term. Calling abortion "murder" actually makes my arguments against abortion less effective and therefore leads to an increase in the number of abortions.

Since McCain/Romney = certain defeat in November, you must be supporting another candidate.

He (Romney) will also alienate even more voters that Republicans have counted upon to win, moving the party even further Left. On the up side, the magnitude of their defeat with Romney on the ticket would stain both men so badly that they would never figure on the national scene again.

As for Romney’s positions, the clothes he wears since running for president do not fit him. It is nigh impossible to convince so many people that he changed his mind on so many issues after working so hard to promote them in the past.

A few Freepers banging the Mitt is a liberal drum doesn't make Romney a liberal. In exit polls for every Republican primary (such as CA's below), for actual GOP voters, Romney was the overwhelming choice of the very conservatives. You are pitting your opinion against the ballots of tens of thousands of very conservative voters. Either you or they are fools; I'll go with the former.

Since when did Conservatives dictatorially impose
socialized medcine, gay marriage, coverup of criminal actions,
and then use fake badges? I think NEVER.

No. I am saying that I cannot support either one of them. They are both too Liberal. A vote for either one dooms the country to at least another four Carter-like years, erodes at least the first two Amendments to the Constitution, and destroys the economy.
