Once upon a time, people who wanted to be president were not expected to admit it in public. This mask of false indifference had to be dropped when the rise of primaries forced candidates to campaign actively for the office.

LOL!!!
Thank you for putting into most eloquent words that which I have been thinking for weeks now.
"Jim" doesn't need you looking out for him.
He owns the place and I find him very quotable when calling liberals like Romney what they are. Why bother him with pings all day long? If it bothers him he can tell me now and I will cease.
I just work with what the GOP gives me.
The incentive is not having Barack Huessein Obama in the White House!
You are 100% correct however do not worry about this tiny and irrelevant minority of unappeasable conservatives. McCain and hopefully McCain/Romney are going to win without their vote because the majority 90% of the Republican base, the majority of independents and at least 20% of the democrat base is going to vote for them.
But he's good at getting cozy with Rats.
Meant to include you in number 43, I’m gettin’ old I guess.
Thank you for putting it into perspective.
There’s 2 or 3 Romney haters that post over and over and over again lol.
Mitt has established his cred with me.
That's not the point. The point is, is that there is a dearth of qualified Republicans for VP who has Gubernatorial experience. If you want McCain, who is already a flawed nominee to begin with, to pick Crist, Perry, or Huckabee, go for it, and you'll see even more conservatives staying home in disgust. If you want him to pick untested & unqualified potential nominees such as Palin, Jindal, Pawlenty, Sanford, or Rounds, go for it, which will neutralize Obama's dis-qualifications and he'll end up winning.
From a logical standpoint, Romney is the no-brainer choice for VP. He's got the money, the experience, and the executive skills who can be president in a pinch. He is libertarian on economic issues, supports the WOT, and he has always been center-right on social issues which will improve if he's the nominee. Complaining about Romney isn't going to get anyone anywhere - it's bad enough we have McCain. Time to make lemonade out of lemons and work with the choices arguably not given to us.
“I wish they would put this Mitt Romney stuff to rest. He brings no excitement, interest, or value to McCains ticket, he wasnt even popular within the republican base during the primaries, he got blown out.”
You really should go back and check the numbers, in just about every primary self-described Republicans went for Romney over McCain. McCain got moderates and amnesty favoring Hispanics.
“But he’s good at getting cozy with Rats.”
See, Mitt and Juan have a lot in common!
Agreed
I'm not "pushing" for Romney - I would have preferred Sanford but clearly he is not ready for primetime. I secretly hope McCain chooses Palin but I fear she may decline due to her family and the fact that she was just elected AK Governor.
I just feel that Romney is the best available option out there.
“Anyhow if you are a true Conservative youll vote for the Republican ticket.”
Not necessarily. There are several picks McFraud could make that would put me on a street corner holding signs and campaigning....AGAINST that ticket. Julie Annie and Light Loafers Lindsay to name just two.
I am against abortion, but I am also against laws that forbid abortion. This is a very personal issue and it gets people on both sides heated. I think the best way to end abortion is to change people's hearts. Screaming that someone is a murderer because they had an abortion is very counter-productive.
In Utah where most people share Romney's personal disdain for abortion, the residents enjoy the lowest per capita number of abortions in the United States. Legally they residents of Utah can get an abortion but they choose not to because they believe it is morally wrong.
To me this is being a true conservative; to freely choose to behave in a moral fashion. Liberals pass laws to force people into certain behavior under threat of prison.
Is that Romney and his senior wife?
Then the GOP has failed.
