Today the President and First Lady attended Tony Snow's funeral, the President made a wonderful speech about how special Tony was and I have chosen these words to be the quote of the day as the content does much in putting things into perspective. We may get tied up on the minutiae of life but Tony Snow showed where our priorities should be never compromising his beliefs but always bearing in mind what was important and treating the rest with good humour and a smile.
After attending the funeral the President travelled to California to view some of the damaged caused by the wildfires and also to speak to those who are bravely fighting them.
Pray for President Bush -- Day 2864
When I first saw this picture earlier today I wondered where Robbie was. I then realized that he is helping to carry the urn (I assume that it him--it must be). You can see his blond head on the right behind the man on the front right. So, so sad.
They all look amazing. I love Jill's blouse/skirt. So classy. How great to hear the reports that the children participated in the service---and were so composed and graceful. Must have been incredibly hard.
For my win today I would like to have this photo on my toaster
It was a fabulous tribute and a very personal one obvious that it was given by someone who really knew him
I am betting no one in the Bush administation went anywhere near Scott.
It was indeed
Thanks Snugs, Glad I dropped by, we still have the Best President ever at the helm.. and What a lovely family Tony Snow has. Thank you for the pictures.
I wonder if the tall man in the front left, in the charcoal grey suit and goatee, is Tony’s brother. He looks very similar to Tony.
I pray that our loving God provides strength and comfort to the Snow family.
Well, I certainly wouldn’t!
I bet you are right. I am glad you said so. Somehow I think I heard that he had on a gray suit--must have been from O'Reilly. I heard BOR say today that the most emotional moment in the service was when Tony's brother Steve spoke. Steve apparently said that Tony always looked out for him and was a great older brother.
snugs: THANK YOU for posting this very special DOSE . . . The President’s eulogy was absolutely beautiful — it brought tears to my eyes!
The WhiteHouse has posted a very special webpage titled:
REMEMBERING TONY SNOW:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/tonysnow/index.html
“For Robbie, Kendall, and Kristi, you are in our thoughts and prayers, as well. We thank you for sharing your dad with us. He talked about you all the time. He wanted nothing more than your happiness and success. You know, I used to call Tony on the weekends to get his advice. And invariably, I found him with you on the soccer field, or at a swim meet, or helping with your homework. He loved you a lot. Today I hope you know that we loved him a lot, too”
What a wonderful thing to say to the children, they will always have the memory of the President of the United States the most important man in the world saying those wonderful things about their father who undoubtedly was and is the most important man in the world to them.
My pleasure and honour and also my sadness to be doing the dose today
What a terrible sad day for the whole family but no doubt a day that in time they will be able to look back at and take pride in the wonderful tributes made to Tony and also take comfort in the fact they attended and participated in remembering him.
Very fitting photo for today.
Although I wished the funeral had been televised, but I am glad the media respected the children’s wishes
For some reason that picture just hit me. So sad!
Very, very nicely said, snugs.
This I believe shows that Tony Snow was a far better person than me or others as I do not think I could behave in that manner to someone who had effectively trashed my friends and colleague and by default me as well.
