Hearing set on "imperial Bush presidency" Thu Jul 17, 2008 5:52pm EDT
By Thomas Ferraro
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Impeachment is out for President George W. Bush, but a top U.S. lawmaker said on Thursday he wants to take a look at his "imperial presidency."
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers announced his panel would examine possible administration wrongdoing, which has included complaints that Bush misled the United States into the Iraq war in 2003.
"Over the last seven plus years, there have been numerous credible allegations of serious misconduct by officials in the Bush administration," said Conyers, a Michigan Democrat.
He scheduled a July 25 hearing on "the Imperial Presidency of George W. Bush and possible legal responses."

Do these people not realize his term is over in less then 6 months? I mean what’s the point of bothering. Oh yea they could be doing more important things....like FREAKING DRILLING FOR OIL
Time is running out... they are trying so hard to ruin President Bush’s legacy...
Yea, this will really help Michigan.
These demented Demagogues think that the committees are there simply for their pleasure to run loony propaganda campaigns against the WH. Republicans ought to fight back HARD and brand all of the ‘Rat Congress with the depravity of John Conyers and friends. There should be a high political price to be paid for this kind of b.s., but with a biased MSM and a timid RNC nothing much will happen.
Conyers drinks the bong water every morning. What a twit of a person.
Meanwhile, Conyers’ district represents the worst of the worst. Small wonder.
They both deserve each other.
Bushs Fault!
And THAT’S all they really care about!
They don’t give a rip about doing the people’s business; keeping our country safe, fixing the borders, fixing Social Security (the voters in FDR’s time should have taken notice of the word “Social”), allowing the US to become energy independent by drilling our own oil, and PROTECTING THE CONSTITUTION.
Nope. Not the agenda of the democrats.
He should really consider ipecac.
I’m starting to think that Bush’s chances for re-election this year are getting pretty slim.
I am starting to think that the Dems are doing everything in their power to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this November...
Get over it Conyers, you lost.
Hey Conyers, how many people across the globe were murdered as a result of the inactivity of the Clinton Administration as he was too busy ripping off the American taxpayer to be bothered with addressing threats from abroad (no pun intended).
Maybe Johnny Boy is using this as an excuse to stay away from his sorry excuse for a wife. Monica is in hiding since the feds are investigating a Detroit sludge-to-fertilizer deal (no joke, really) where she may have taken bribes to vote the right way. She’s taking some time off to “recover from a small surgical procedure.”
Watch Detroit, folks. It’s too entertaining in a sick, sad way not to.
Right and Congress' ratings dropped since the dems took over.
They have left impeachment behind. Now the demented dems think they can go for WAR crimes and charge Bush and his admin officials with criminal acts resulting in jail and/or execution. Bush Derangement Syndrome is pretty powerful stuff.
Can you say, “Lowest popularity rating in the history of Congress?”
We ought to email the House Judiciary Committee about their priorities.
More money wasted. How did these morons get elected?
