Are the victims white and the perps black? If that’s the case why can’t hate crimes be charged like they would be if the roles were reversed?

Goodess people! What IF the victim is black? Would you find the crime less heinous? That little girl is traumatized for the rest of her life, no matter what her color is. And these perps should be strung up, no matter what their color is. It is amazing to me that the story about a father being assaulted trying to defend his daughter becomes a race thing. What are you Al Sharpton or David Duke?

I agree completely with you, color SHOULDN’T matter.

I was pointing out that if the races were white on black then Sharpton and Jackson would be there on the first flight to bring national attention to it, and demanding that hate crimes be tacked on to the assault charges.

If the victim was black or white it won’t matter if the perps were black.

Do I believe there is a double standard at play?

Yes.

If the perps were white it would make a huge difference to the national media and the camera whores like Sharpton who call them for face time.

The assailants are Black. There was no report on the race of the victims as far as I know. IF the victims are Black, then the crime is just as heinous as if the victims are White. No difference. And that makes a good point-- if a crime like this is committed by White people against a Black person, then there is automatically talk of Hate Crime charges and various "community leaders: (i.e. race pimps) get involved and the Black city councilpersons get on TV and make their disgusting comments and attempts are made to somehow make all White people feel guilty etc. ad naseum.

On the other hand, if it is Black perps and a White victim, then it is just viewed as a "normal" assault without any charges of Hate Crimes. That's why I feel Hate Crimes Laws are rascist by their very nature and should be taken off the books.

Actually, when my white then fiancee (It’s complicated) were attacked by a bunch of racist black women, the police were about to press hate crime charges since race was a factor.

Shouldn't be.  Whites have come to suspect institutionalized bigotry, mostly in the form of double standards. It is reality.

I'm looking forward to the day when the practice of stifling discourse through threats of association with liberal taboos is sneared at with the same righteousness as bigotry is now.
