This is horrible. But it is what occurs in a permissive society. It also occurs when life is undervalued or devalued. Blame whatever institution you like, they're all culpable. Truly. Some Parents, Most Schools, Most Businesses, the State and Federal Court Systems, some religions, all of them are guilty of placing less value on human beings than on personal pleasure and all are guilty of removing personal responsibility when they turn the perpetrator into a victim. I'll bet someone comes up with the "it's not their fault, they had poor childhoods" excuse before 24 hours is up.
