Report: Father Labeled a 'Pervert' for Taking Pictures of Own Children in Park

An outraged father of three enjoying a day out with his young sons in a U.K. park was branded a "pervert" by other parkgoers after he snapped photos of his own kids, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

(snip)

"What is the world coming to when anybody seen with a camera is assumed to be doing things that they should not?" Crutchley asked in an interview with the Daily Mail. "This parental paranoia is getting completely out of hand. I was so shocked."

I wonder if there’s not more to this story than first appears. First, it sounds as though the guy was holding up the line to the inflatable slide so he could take his pictures. I suspect that’s why the slide operator asked him to put the camera away and why the parents with kids waiting in line seconded the motion. Wouldn’t surprise me if he got snippy with her (and she might have been snippy with him in the first place) and then things escalated to where one exasperated parent said something stupid like “For all we know, you are taking their pictures and maybe pictures of our kids for posting on the internet.” It could just as easily be a typical dispute among parents of hot kids waiting in their swimsuits to take the slide while this guy held up the line to get his pictures. And the way this guy is whining, he sounds like he just might be a jerk. Just my theory.

Feminism has branded all men as abusers or potential abusers. When will men stand up to this type of sexism?

This is one sign of a society whose citizens have lost faith in the ability of the society to protect them from crime.

This is one sign of a society whose citizens have lost faith in the ability of the society right to protect themselves from crime.

True, but I was referring to the punishment phase, which is the distinct obligation of the society at large.

Photography does not equal pornography.

I took these this morning on my walk - I had my eye on those two chicks at the back doing the cycling bit. :)

The lady that got in trouble for going after punks that kept desecrating a war memorial was in the U.K. too, wasn’t it?

10-4. However, one is the cause and the other the effect.

'The incident took the gloss off the day and left a nasty taste in the mouth.'

...it sounds as though the guy was holding up the line to the inflatable slide so he could take his pictures...

Not stated in the story.

I suspect that’s why the slide operator asked him to put the camera away and why the parents with kids waiting in line seconded the motion.

From the story:

"Moments later the woman running the slide told me to stop. She told me I could not take pictures of other people's children."

It could just as easily be a typical dispute among parents of hot kids waiting in their swimsuits to take the slide...

Not so much, I think.

...this guy is whining...

You do realize what he was accused of?

Just my theory.

Thanks for sharing.

I said earlier,

"Photography does not equal Pornography."

Additionally,

Nudity does not equal Pornography.

Not an issue with the original news story, but we seem to have swerved into it anyway.

“You do realize what he was accused of?”

Yes, I think I caught that little tidbit. I still want to hear from the other side before I condemn an entire civilization based on this one man’s complaint. I think there might be more than one version of this incident.

Umm, Maybe you should photoshop those a bit so the chicks in the back are more . . .

Oh, Never mind.
