WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, on Monday rejected a call by U.S. President George W. Bush to lift a moratorium on offshore oil drilling.
Bush announced on Monday that he lifted the executive branch's restriction on offshore exploration, saying only Congress stood in the way of opening up America's untapped oil riches.

You go Harry! We might get a Republican Congress yet.
Harry's power base, Clark County (Las Vegas) is taking it up the pipe. Tourism is way off, from what I've read. It's the gas prices and business in Vegas is starting to suck. Well, they elected him.
That should have an effect on his support. People are less inclined to hug trees or listen to the accompanying twaddle when they can't make ends meet.
Egad, we're stupid, but not that stupid, you arrogant ass.
**SIGH** that's the problem though.
Those of us voters who happen to be part of "they" need to support them if they do.

Didn’t Boxer and company want us to “forget what John Kerry did 25 years ago, it doesn’t matter anymore”? So...why are Democrats still stuck in the past over one oil spill from a rig that would be way outdated in this day and age (yeah yeah, platform, not the tower, just the equipment, before anyone tries splitting hairs)
Thanks, I did.
FR has taught me more than anything else, that we have a bunch of do nothing politicians running this country.
I think Bush had the makings of being a great president, but clearly the deomcrats have worked over time to undermine our economy and the war effort, with the objective that everything seems to be going to hell in a hand bag, so the dumb@ss public will be inclined to vote for the democrats...
There are a few idiot republicans too. John Warner wants to lower the speed limit to 55. We should raise it to 75.
According to her the “birds, dolphins, seals and other marine animals” are more important than whether the public can afford to drive to work!
The 1969 oil spill off Santa Barbara was 40 years ago! I guess she doesn’t realize just because Congress is stuck in the dark ages the rest of the country has improved technology including drilling for oil.
40 YEARS AGO there was an oil spill! That is the reason we can’t drill today?!!!
Apparently.
You'll recall we were told to forget 9/11 a while the towers were still smoldering, and "begin the healing". Democrats need to take their own advice.
Of course. 40 years ago there was a house fire, we banned those. Wasn't there an assassiation or two? We banned politicians. I think there might have been a few bank failures along the way, too. Banks? Banned.
Of course, the real reason dems and liberals at large oppose drilling is simple. What liberals truly oppose is personal success, since their Marxist system feeds off of popular discontent.
The people of Nevada need to reject Scary Reid.
Hey Dingy hairy reed, how about you and the other MORON dims agreeing to pay 50% more for your fuel? Let the states that allow drilling offshore drop their fuel prices and you make up the difference. Same goes for boxer, the queen of botox pelosi, and fineswine and Kaalleeefornia.
So what do these dems want?
We either have to import foreign oil and potentially get in war to secure that oil or we get out of that region and drill for oil here.
Anyone notice that oil is down $10 from todays high? Be interesting to see how this plays out. With any luck, some of the greedy pigs in oil will got to slaughter..
