Is it time to create a new United States? If so, how?

Right up front, let me state that this column is for ACADEMIC purposes only. According to friends of mine still with our government, because of my last novel, my home phone and computer became the subject of curiosity for at least two of our three-letter agencies.

The novel was entitled “America’s Last Days” and dealt with a revolution led by a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a former Director of the FBI. Both men felt that the United States of their childhoods, of traditional values, and of true sovereignty, was in a death-spiral from which it would never recover. They felt, that as patriots, it was their duty to try and save at least part of the nation.

Over the course of the last year and a half, I’ve gotten over one-thousand emails from readers. Just in the last two months, I received emails from five war-fighters in Iraq who thanked me for writing a novel that held dear the ideals for which they were fighting in Iraq. Ideals that they felt, were waning in their very own country.

Of all the feedback I have gotten regarding the novel, none is more meaningful, sad, or telling, than those five emails. Are we losing the liberty and traditional values that these heroic soldiers are fighting for overseas?

Putting that rhetorical question aside, I’d like to stress again that this column is merely meant to create discussion. Nothing about it should be taken literally by those with the power to tap my phones or read my emails. Better to direct such resources toward the dictators and terrorists who continue to target our nation.

So, with that caveat established, let’s imagine a United States of the very near future.

A United States where:

• An ultra-liberal candidate for president has the unethical support of almost the top 100 newspapers in the country, the top three television networks, and two of the three top cable networks.

• Nancy Pelosi and other liberals would like to silence the needed and conservative voices of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, and others.

• Some Republicans are morphing into liberal Democrats in order to keep their seats at any cost.

• Border security has become a punch-line for many elected officials on both sides of the aisle.

• God and Christianity are under constant attack from the far-left.

• Liberals -- most especially the Democratic candidate for president -- and our Supreme Court, would like to treat Jihadists as criminals and extend statutory habeas corpus to enemy combatants.

• Large segments of the entertainment community are purposefully and systematically exposing our children to the vilest forms of smut to both make money and to indoctrinate.

• Strict-constructionist judges are an endangered species.

• A number of Republicans are jumping on the “Amnesty-for-illegal-aliens” bandwagon faster than Democrats.

• Lower taxes and fiscal restraint are going the way of the Hula-Hoop, good manners, and an abiding belief in the goodness and mission of the American soldier.

Whoops. I’m sorry. Did I say “the near future?” I meant now.

Accepting that depressing and potentially tragic state of affairs, while calculating the prospect of a committed, far-left president, teaming with a Democrat majority in Congress for at least the coming four years, an obvious question comes to mind. That being, is it time to create a “new” United States? If so, how would you go about establishing a new nation predicated on the beliefs and wisdom of our Founding Fathers?

The shrinking number of conservative Americans who still believe in the promise of our Republic are anxiously awaiting the scenarios to be outlined in this “for academic purposes only” homework assignment.

It struck me after I posted my comments below that I have to wonder if the guys who made the movie about President Bush being assassinated, or wrote the book about it, or all the fools at DU, MoveOn, and DailyKos who have hinted at it or agitated for it, got visits from alphabet agencies? Anybody care to answer that, or even speculate? If I had to bet, I know how I’d bet.

only give the franchise to those who have served in the armed forces

After having served in the Marine Corps I will say that there are a lot of Socialists in the service. With everything being provided for you it becomes second nature. Now repealing the 19th Ammendment to the Constitution would probably accomplish what you want.

Instead of funding any political parties, let's form an organization whose sole objective is to achieve those States’ rights that the Confederacy was unable to protect 160 years ago and which have increasingly been eroded by rampant central government control.

You would have to repeal the 13th Amendment in order to accomplish that.

There are no men left in this country. The Great Generation is dying off. Who held the door against that lunatic gunman on the Virginia campus? A 70 yr. old man, while the “college boys” jumped out of the windows. If only 3 or 4 of them would have stayed to fight, many lives would have been spared.

Having said all that, I believe our only hope for the future is from the soldiers returning home. These are MEN and will stand up in their generation to get this country back on track, IF that can be done.

That being, is it time to create a “new” United States? If so, how would you go about establishing a new nation predicated on the beliefs and wisdom of our Founding Fathers?

In addition to "love and war", the other area in which anything is "fair" is politics.

Ever since the days of the Athenian Republic and the Roman Republic, political demagogues have been seducing and hoodwinking the average voter and, let's face it, the average voter is not the sharpest pencil in the box. As Winston Churchill stated, "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."

Yes, it's true that our Founding Fathers would gag at the spectacle of the Democrat politicians that are in power nowadays but those Democrats politicians lied to and hoodwinked the average gullible voter "fair" and square.

Neither the Armed Forces nor the national police agencies under the leadership of a "Chairman of the Joint Chiefs" or "FBI Director" can impose the "beliefs and wisdom of our Founding Fathers" by force and still have an America that is true to the "beliefs and wisdom of our Founding Fathers". That would make America nothing more than a dictatorship ruling over the sullen majority of gullible ex-voters.

The only way to change the future course of America is to compete for the mind of the average voter. Yet, conservatives have abandoned that battlefield and generation after generation of American school children are being raised by having left-wing ideology constantly pumped into their heads by NEA schoolteachers, the liberal news media and Hollywood.

The way to mold a future America is not by staging a coup de etat. The way to mold a future America is to successfully compete in the battle to mold the minds of America's youth. We have, however, abandoned that battlefield to the America-haters.

When the Health Care industry is Communized by the federal government, the Democrats will have the medical records of all Americans, including, of course, anyone they wish to destroy.

Will the ACLU object to the government’s seizure of these 300 million confidential medical records? Will the ACLU call this Communization of Health Care “an assault on liberty”?

When the Living Hell of Communized Health Care begins, how many people are going to be willing to strike—literally go on strike and refuse to see the government’s killing doctors—because that’s what they will be.

Catholic hospitals will shut down, and be reopened by the government as abortion and euthanasia hospitals.

I am not a big fan of Lincoln (to put it mildly. But, "Father Abraham" got this right.

Try yo visualize OUR Senate sending anything like this to the President. I said "try." I cannot.

-------------------------------------------------

By the President of the United States of America.

A Proclamation.

Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.

And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.

And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.

All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty seventh.

By the President: Abraham Lincoln
William H. Seward, Secretary of State.

I agree completely with your view. I’ll even add that I believe why we see such twisted thinking today, calling evil good etc, is because there is a curse put on anyone who spills innocent blood. For every mother, father, grandparent, school teacher, doctor, nurse, receptionist, young lady, or young man who ever participated in an abortion either actively or by consent their thinking has been cursed and they no long can discern right from wrong. That is why we get such outrageous ideology from the left.
There are many other effects on our society that this cursed thinking has brought about. Do the math on how many abortions have been committed and how many liberal voters there are.

It is way past time.

There is no point in discussing it, it is mental masturbation. Until you are ready to die when they come for your neighbor (that you do not like) - there will be no change.

There will be anarchy in the near future but it will mostly be because the Government did not do something - ala Katrina - rather than because they did do something.

Stock up on food and bullets - you might save your family.

I have attended very few social gatherings that a small group of men, huddled with their heads together, spend the evening discussing the Wawah. The battle never ends.

The concept upon which the United States was founded may be passing out of popular understanding and need.

If one peruses the birthrates of nations whose populations exceed the ability to sustain, the United States will become yet one more destination for survival.

Our times are numbered - as our traditions and values will be - by sheer population tidal waves - which will reinvent governance no longer by rational thinkers but by the mob.

There are no fences or beaches we can shore up to prevent the inevitable invasion - and in our loving democratic way we will continue to accept new membership as well as performing outreach and sustenance to other nations in need.

We will continue to overdo and overgive until there is nothing left.

Education is the key. And it's gotta come from the bottom up.

For my part I point out to family, friends, and--when possible--co-workers just how poorly we are being served by the Democrats and by the Drive-bys.

For example, every time the Drive-bys mention high gas prices and immediately follow this up with a story about the "oil companies' record profits", I ask the person with whom I'm talking, "What do you infer from those two stories told back-to-back?"

When the (inevitable) answer is "Those g*d-damned greedy oil companies are gouging us and somebody needs to do something about it!" I then ask "What would you infer from a follow-up story which pointed out that in the 18 months that Democrats have controled Congress, gas prices have gone from just over $2/gallon to over $4/gallon? And this despite the Democrats' pledge in late 2006 to fix high gas prices."

So far, I've had mixed results with a tactic like this. But at least it gets some people to think about the nature of (ahem) reporting on the nightly news. Whether these efforts will bear fruit or not, only time will tell.

Yes, it's incredibly tedious and frustrating as #&%$!, but I believe that preserving the Republic is worth it.

Heaven help us if things get any worse.

Just my 2¢.

New US Government? Sounds interesting. What do I have to do? Oh wait, hang on a sec, got a new Will and Grace rerun coming on. Let’s talk later.

(that was sarcasm, but probably the attitude of 80% of the nation)

I think Americans in your scenario should dust off the Consititution. Great set of ideas, low mileage, only waved by people who don’t much know how to operate it for the last century or so.

Sorry, but the original Constitution is insufficient for the modern age.

Now before you blow a blood vessel, hear me out.

The Constitution is more than obviously failing to do what it was crafted to do in the first place. That is beyond dispute. The big question is "why."

I submit the reason our Constitution is no longer adequate is the thing was designed to curtail and restrain the abuses common to "men." Unfortunately, when women gained the right to vote, we changed nothing else about the Constitution. Consequently, the law of the land is inadequate to restrain abuses that are common to "women," and the men who employ such tactics.
