Daily Koha Ditore claims that there is financial support from George Soros and the Kosovo Fund for Open Society: “The lobbying group will include Veton Suroi and Blerim Shala, the coordinator of the former Kosovo negotiating team, Luan Shllaku, the director of the Kosovo Fund for Open Society, and Muhamet Mustafa, the dean of the Reinvest University.”
The group‘s work will be based on the plan and recommendations of former international envoy to Kosovo Martti Ahtisaari, his deputy Albert Rohan, and former EU mediator Wolfgang Ischinger. Kosovo lobby representatives met with them in late June in Vienna.
Koha Ditore writes that during the meeting, Ahtisaari, Roan and Ischinger expressed their interest in helping the lobbying process through an informal strategic group.
Shllaku said that the group’s objective would not be to convince state institutions to recognize Kosovo’s independence, but to conduct specific activities with civil society and influential individuals from countries that had still not recognized the province’s unilateral independence, in order to pave the way for government institutions in those countries to recognize the new state.
At the end of this week, the group will travel to Jordan to meet with representatives of civil society and influential individuals.
Sllaku said that the group would grow rapidly, underlining that it would not be a rival to the government—rather it would be the government’s “partner in the lobbying process to have Kosovo’s independence recognized.”

While in general I’m supportive of Kosovo’s independence... Soros’ involvement in any way makes me take a breather and wonder what this sKum has going on... Anything he’s associated with should be viewed with a skeptic eye... maybe two.
Soros has had his fingers in the pie from the very beginning. He wants ownership the Trecpa mining complex with its gold, silver, lead, zinc and cadmium deposits.
Without Kosovo breaking away, he’d have had to pay full market price to the Serbs. Now that NATO has effectively confiscated it for him, he’ll pay pennies for it.
My view has always been partition Kosovo, giving the north part, to Serbia, and keep the rest independant, and negotiate the Trepka mines. I know you folks disagree, so be it.
If you support “Kosovo independence”, or other anti-Serb policies, you’re in bed with Soros and all the other globalists, whether you like it or not!!!!
These miscreants want to take the world “beyond the nation state” (see the writings of clintonite Strobe Talbott). They’re against American sovereignty, too. Their long trail of activity in facilitating the breakup of Yugoslavia and Serbia only represents a laboratory for their worldwide ambitions.

No, not really, partition was the best course. The Serbs had already agreed to privatize the mine and had deals with the Greeks.
As far as I'm concerned, neither Serbia nor Albania need the criminal elements crawling around within Kosovo's borders and need to keep them out. We want our monasteries and the profits from the lucrative mining deal that is due us. NATO's "intervention" was nothing more than an illegal land grab under false pretenses.
Kosovar Albanians are liars pure and simple, they make up war crime accusations as they go along but deny and downplay their own heathenish involvement in murder, human organ harvesting, drug trafficking, white slavery and illegal arms dealing. These are undeniable facts and we are sick and tired of the bastardization of the truth.

Worth repeating even though FR is loaded with posters who simply refuse to do any research on their own, refuse delivery of the material when someone does it for them, and prefer to remain uninformed.
Even putting aside the facts that recognizing "Kosovo independence" is nothing more than backing the illegal transfer of stolen property and giving support for George Soros, what you suggest is virtually impossible without a good relationship between Serbia and the Kosovo Albanians -- which no one has sought to cultivate.
The argument against cutting up Kosovo can be summed up in one word Gazivoda. Gazivoda Lake in the north supplies virtually all the water needed for Kosovo's power stations and a substantial amount of its drinking water. The biggest fear before Kosovo declared independence was that the Serbs would seize Gazivoda, so NATO sent troops there to secure it. If Serbia took back that one little adjacent corner of Kosovo that included Gazivoda Lake & cut off the water supply to the rest of Kosovo, Kosovo would be brought to its knees.
I posted a Greek video (with English subtitles) on another thread that talks about how critical Gazivoda is to Kosovo's power -- and it includes an international talking about how in the old Yugoslavia, it was a secret that Kosovo had been stealing power from the other republics for years. Kosovo was and is not self-sustainable in the energy sector.
There was another article today in Business Week about how Kosovo was trying to attract Kosovo Albanian emigrant investment, and so far even Kosovo Albanian immigrants in the diaspora are reluctant to invest in Kosovo:

His concern is legitimate. Kosovo is among the poorest countries in Europe. Its infrastructure is abysmal. Corruption is endemic, with Transparency International ranking Kosovo the world's fourth most corrupt economy. The health and education systems are poor, unemployment is off the charts, and imports exceed exports by around a factor of 10.
Lying and corruption are endemic to the culture -- it can't be wiped out. Supporting Kosovo independence is insane because at best, Kosovo will be "a country" that is on and will remain on economic life-support for its entire (and hopefully short-lived) existence, because as long as its alive as "a country", we taxpayers will be paying to support it.
That would be far preferable to the current solution being inflicted upon that area.

Soros and his flying monkeys have got their filthy paws all over the Balkans and the demonization of the Serbs in these recent conflicts.
You'd be hard pressed to find a group of people that loath George Soros as much as the Serbs. I consider him near the top of the list of our enemies.

It’s actually very easy. Just Google McCain and Soros and Obama and Soros. You’ll get scads of links, and will be able to do your own research.
I don’t bash Freepers who support McCain (or even the few who support Obama) too much. No one likes to deal with the fact that both candidates are BAD for America and for our Judeo-Christian civilization, among other things. People need to have hope. So many people refuse to do the research, or to realize that they are being lied to, just so that they can have a shred of hope.
My Orthodox priest says that the true source of hope is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We REALLY need to remember that these days, when there is no hope whasoever in these Soros-shill candidates’ lies and false promises.
Probably the best solution, and many of my relatives in Belgrade would agree. In the long-term, ditching Kosovo is probably the best thing for Serbia. It's poor and full of a cranky ethnic group that doesn't like Serbs. Other than the history that Serbs attach to Kosovo, there isn't really all that much for them in that godforsaken province.
Unfortunately for the US, it looks like Kosovo is going to be our problem for the foreseeable future. Wonderful.
