Eh, just look at what jobs the "diversity hires" hold. Nice, safe, low impact positions that are forward-facing so that everyone can see how "enlightened" the company is. Fluffy jobs like Corporate Trainers, HR, and Marketing.

If you look where the rubber hits the road, there isn't any room for feel-good hires. Check out Sales or IT. Places where, if there's something wrong, the entire company suffers.

I've never heard the phrase "Our sales numbers are down, but look how diverse our department is!" People that are in the places that matter, (not always but largely) are there because they can do the job, not because they allow HR to make a check in some box on a form. If they're "diversity", then that's fine, but what matters is getting it done.

That's my unsolicited $0.02. Flame away.

We had a dad on one of our soccer teams that was loud, obnoxious, pushy, vulger and arrogant. He was regularly carded for his behaviour at games. If his daughter missed a goal, he would publicly dress her down for not getting it.

And of course, his job at a major local airline? Diversity trainer!
