Would it really matter if Obama was born in Kenya? His mother could still register him at the U.S Legation as an American citizen. Kenya wasn't independent until 1963 or two years after Obama was born.

I’ve been told that until 1986, only a child both of whose parents were American citizens could be registered as an American citizen if he was born outside U.S. soil.

The fact that one of Obama’s parents was a foreigner would have made registry more difficult.

If born in Kenya he wasn't a native born citizen. His mother also didn't meet the requirements of being continuously in the US for 5 years after age 16 before his birth. She would have to be at least 21. It is reported she was 18.

Something is fishy about his birth certificate and he doesn't seem to be in any hurry to produce it to end the speculation.

Not to be a U.S. Senator, but to be POTUS you must be a natural-born citizen meaning that you are either born in the continental United States or it's recogized territories or military bases around the world. Last time I checked Kenya is not a U.S. territory.

You are wrong, his mother was only 18 when he was born and hadn’t met the requirement of a single US parent. She had to live in the US 5 years after the age of 16 in order for Barack to be born a US citizen outside the US. In the constitution. She was 18 when he was born and hadn’t lived in the US 5 years after the age of 16 when he was born. It is tremendously important that he release his birth document and if he made a fake one to make republicans chase shadows then he is guilty of a federal crime.

If he was born in Kenya unless his parent was part of the military or the embassy he’d be a “citizen by birth” and not a “natural born citizen” which is required by the Constitution. Of course the “citizen by birth” issue has never been adjudicated as far as I know and SCOTUS could decide that the terms “natural born citizen” and citizen by birth are one in the same. Good old Kennedy would be the swing vote.
