Sometimes when I get on FR, I get a little weary of the fatalism. You’re comparing apples to cinderblocks when you compare this election to 1996.
Robert Dole ran a non-campaign and was a party throwaway...William Clinton was a controversial incumbent president who had no opposition candidate, unlike Obama who won a squeak-by victory against a power-hungry opponent who has left behind bitter supporters who may vote for McCain or not vote for president at all.

I was posting about the 2006 campaign, where we lost both houses. Many poo pooed the polls as some are doing once again.
