His anti-American self emerged as he got older. But given his vast wealth, I'd say he should have been grateful for what our blessed country did for him.
I was just looking at some of his later routines on youtube. Carlin was a miserable, bitter old man.

"Carlin was a repugnant creature."
"Btw, Free Republic is a conservative website and we are pro-God."
And I thought for a pro-god website, we may exercise a little more tact and class.

He was one of the comedians I remember growing up with. He turned bitter after his wife died.
Growing up, I remember listening to Carlin, David Frye, Vaughn Meder, and Mort Sahl, for political humor and counter-culture humor.

Who is worshipping? Enjoying someone’s work is not the same as worship. You don’t have to like him, but you don’t have to trash him a few hours after his death either. What purpose does it really serve? You certainly can’t change his mind now.

I'm biased toward God ...
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family...

That’s all well and good, since he’s the founder of the site.

Thanks... More often than not the truth hurts, and too many are willing to blame the messenger for the message!

This is a political debate about the life and times of one George Carlin -— pop culture icon to some.
Btw, Carlin showed absolutely no respect for the living while here on Earth.

I agree. I thought he was funny sometimes when he wasn’t being nasty. I don’t believe he’s laughing and telling jokes now though. He wasn’t a believer until now. Every knee shall bow.

This is a political debate about the life and times of one George Carlin - pop culture icon to some. And nothing but a simple comedian to others. He made us laugh...at the world and at ourselves. Is that such a bad thing? Granted his humor was, at times, bitter and angry. But it made ya think, didn't it? And yes, he did have his issues with "organized" religion. But once again..."Judge not that ye be not judged."

Btw, Carlin showed absolutely no respect for the living while here on Earth. So he didn't bow down in your presence. BIG DEAL!

“The harm” is that all those laughs mean nothing in the end. Speaking for the Christians on this thread, we mourn for a lost soul. We appreciated his humor at times, but we truly mourn for a soul that never knew Christ in this life. That’s not indecorous. “What shall it profit a man that he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
To: fagin62
I don’t usually jump on the departed, but with George Carlin, I made an exception. If he finds peace in death, fine.
Truth is, Carlin hadn’t been funny for a quarter century. And his attacks on God, Jesus Christ, people of the Christian faith, along with conservatives and most everything else to do with traditional American values, was sickening.

The "Boss" doesn't greet anyone that way unless one first admitted his being "Boss" in this life. But who knows? He could have at the moment of his death. I guess, we'll all find out when we get there!

I see you have one thing in common with Carlin, you’re both cheap trashtalkers.
Grow up!
