For Blacks in France Obama’s Rise is Reason to Rejoice and to Hope
The New York Times ^ | June 17, 2008 | MICHAEL KIMMELMAN

When Youssoupha, a black rapper here, was asked the other day what was on his mind, a grin spread across his face. “Barack Obama,” he said. “Obama tells us everything is possible.”

A new black consciousness is emerging in France, lately hastened by, of all things, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president of the United States. An article in Le Monde a few days ago described how Mr. Obama is “stirring up high hopes” among blacks here. Even seeing the word “noir” (“black”) in a French newspaper was an occasion for surprise until recently.

Meanwhile, this past weekend, 60 cars were burned and some 50 young people scuffled with police and firemen, injuring several of them, in a poor minority suburb of Vitry-le-François, in the Marne region of northeast France.

Another battle of the Marne?

New York Times gives Obama a French kiss. Propagandists place Barack on the international pedestal.

It is taking shape every day in the US and foreign press.

If Obama wins, it will be because the world is tired of the old ways and demands CHANGE and HOPE from the America that led the world.

If Obama loses, it will be because racists and warmongers stifled the voice of CHANGE and HOPE.

Yes there will be a violent uproar if Obama loses.

F*** France.

I assume then that you've decided you don't really want their support in Afghanistan after all? Also, unlike the US, France's President is actually a conservative.

for over 50 yrs the media has denounced America as racist and yet they cannot wait to interject race into this election.

What will they do if Obama (peas be upon him) gets elected? They NEED to continue to elect whitey so they have something to bitch about.

Yes, if a "rock star" can get elected, why not a rapper?

"For Blacks in France' Obama’s Rise is Reason to Rejoice and to Hope"

Silly, silly people. Why on earth does it take such a thing for some people to be motivated? How shallow. How pathetic.

“The French have always had a fascination with American Blacks, since the days of Josephine Baker, James Baldwin, and “les jazzmen”.”

- “Black Venus” was an American-born daughter of French parents. In 1937, she became a French citizen. In many ways, Josephine Baker was therefore French.

Baker was, apart from other things, known for being one of few persons born on American soil who appreciated French cars.

In the 1920’s, she sung:

“J’aime la France, et J’aime ma petite Citroën”

In my country, Sweden, we view Citroëns as interesting constructions, altough we consider them far too complicated and not especially reliable.

The French, for all their bloviating about color-blind equality, are a very racist society.

The French media, very Left oriented, views the US through the lens of Alabama, circa 1952.They have no comprehension of how our society exists today.

At any cafe in Paris, or the rest of France, listed among the desserts on every Menu is “Tete du Negre”, and ice cream coupe of Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce. I have never heard the French media, print or TV, refer to Obama with out the prefix “Senator noir” . They mention race at each and ever opportunity.

They call us racist, but refuse to look in the mirror.
