McCain Proposes La Raza Town Hall
TOWNHALL ^ | Monday, June 16, 2008 | Amanda Carpenter

Posted on 06/16/2008 1:33:00 PM PDT by Checkers

GOP presidential candidate John McCain is inviting his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, to participate in a joint town hall at an open-borders advocacy group’s upcoming meeting in California.

“There is a meeting in California of La Raza,” McCain told reporters at an Arlington press conference Monday. “Both of us have accepted invitations. I say that we have a town hall meeting together in front of La Raza. I think that the people will be far more informed and in some ways, entertained if we had that format.”

“Wouldn’t you agree we lose more with Obama, though?”

More? No. Just as much, he's just going to screw us in a slightly different way. That said, McCain is making (apologetically) good noises on drilling. He needs to be more forceful on the issue.

“Hey I ain’t thrilled about McCain.”

If you were, we wouldn't have such a good repoire. "I’m just scared of the fruitcake Obama more." Both socialists frighten me.

I am really starting to wonder who is in charge of the GOP??? I seriously believe that this was planned from the get-go and financed by third pillar individuals.

You not far off.

This whole thing has been orchestrated and manipulated. The fix is in.

The Republican party has been undermined and compromised by leftist imposter's doing a really bad job of disguising themselves as conservatives.

Those with a brain, still able to think and reason, saw this coming some years ago.

I couldn't be any more serious about this.

Hispanics is a new world term and almost never applies to Spain, so we’ll leave them aside for a moment. I said Hispanics are SOCIAL conservatives...I notice you attempt to rebut this with a long string of reasons why they are not ECONOMIC conservatives. Bush received the backing of anywhere from 24%-40% of Hispanic voters in 2004. Hispanics are about 99% Roman Catholic, pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, etc. Therefore, in the American political context, Hispanics are an essentially socially conservative voting block...that we need to win converts in the Hispanic community on the fiscal conservative/big government/small government debate remains.

we need to rally around one candidate

OK! Let's do it! I nominate Duncan Hunter!

The media heavyweights can be helpful in the cause, and they'll give the publicity to get the steamroller rolling.

Not too sure about that. They certainly did not do much during the disastrous primaries. Ann loved Duncan Hunter, but after getting smacked around a bit, she began hemming and hawing about Mitt.

Which is why I said they were essentially SOCIAL conservatives. That the modern Hispanic family is under assault from Liberalism and moral decay just like everyone else’s is beyond doubt, but Hispanic cultures at 99% Roman Catholic, pro-families, pro-life, etc., has been traditionally a socially conservative group.

So why does he not go listen to the KKK, Nazis, the Commies, the gays, MANBLA, and every other twisted, perverted group that hates our nation.

Yeah John that is a way to win over votes from the silent majority. If McCain wants to pander to a thug racist group, then he is committing political suicide. McCain is f**king moron!

So LaRaza is on a corporate board of multiple large corporations. If true, then this explains why our country is going down the toilet.

The man who loves other countries as much as his own stands on a level with the man who loves other women as much as he loves his own wife.

We can have no “50-50” allegiance in this country. Either a man is an American and nothing else, or he is not an American at all.

When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer “Present” or “Not guilty.”

“Hispanics are about 99% Roman Catholic, pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, etc.”

Pro-life, you say? Pro-family, you say? Pro-marriage, you say? Then why is it that violent crime, especially murder, is rampant among hispanics, and is far greater than their relative numbers would suggest? Why has illegitimacy among hispanic girls become epidemic? (A NYT article from 2006 said that the out-of-wedlock birthrate among hispanic girls is three times that of whites and is even greater than that of blacks!) Abortions among hispanic girls are also on the rise. As for wanting to become part of the American dream by getting an education and working hard and making something of themselves, one need only look no further than the studies that have shown the hispanic dropout rate is the highest in the country.

If that is conservatism, I want no part of it.

Oh, by the way, the term hispanic actually refers to a language group (i.e., those who spoke Spanish). Thus, Spain most certainly can be included in the group.

That the modern Hispanic family is under assault from Liberalism and moral decay just like everyone else’s is beyond doubt

I gave you the data. The Hispanic family is not doing very well under the "assault of Liberalism." Why aren't Asian families experiencing the same thing?

...but Hispanic cultures at 99% Roman Catholic, pro-families, pro-life, etc., has been traditionally a socially conservative group.

Social conservatives my a**. When you have 50% out of wedlock birth rates, the highest teen pregnancy rate of any group, along with the highest school dropout rate, you have the social pathology of failure. Hispanics are becoming the second permanent underclass, which will make them more dependent upon government services and handouts. They vote overwhelmingly Dem.

The Republicans’ Hispanic Delusion Amnesty is not just wrong in principle, it’s bad politics

"This attitude of entitlement—not only among illegal aliens but also among legal Hispanic immigrants and their children—extends to the full array of welfare programs. In fact, welfare use actually increases between the second and third generation of Mexican-Americans—to 31 percent of all third-generation Mexican-American households."

Good quote. Here is one of my favorites.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear.”

Quote from Marcus Tullius Cicero Roman Statesman, Philosopher and Orator 42 B.C.

McCain agreed months ago to speak at La Raza’s convention in July. The only good thing that will come of McCain and Obama appearing at a town hall type meeting with La Raza is that it will showcase how potentially dangerous both of these men are to this country with their “open borders” approach to illegal immigration.

IMHO, we have to do everything we can to elect conservative Republicans to Congress to provide some adult supervision at the national level.

Set aside for a moment the fact that Alaskans have no say in what happens in their own state, but what's the difference anyway?

McCain's in the federal government isn't he?

Hell, he wants to be in charge of the federal government, wouldn't it be appropriate for him to recommend usage of land he actually has responsibility for?

But he doesn't because he's nothing more than another phony windbag. You can vote for him if you want but I'm not.

Where do you draw the line? Do you allow drilling of oil and placing wind and solar energy collectors in the grand canyon? There is enough oil and gas for us to access without ANWR.

Secondly, you apparently are not aware of the SC decision that gives GITMO and other non-citizen enemy detainees legal counsel. If there is any reason to vote for McCain that the issue.

WE need your help and vote on this. Please bury your anger and frustration. WE’RE ALL FRUSTRATED AND MAD AT THE MAN. but he works for us. We have a better chance at changing him once he’s elected than to change Obama and his people.

Hmmm. In my travels in central America, I found almost all of the Roman Catholic priests to be Marxist in their ideology, and that along with the modern Churches here sheltering illegals, disqualifies them as a truly Conservative political block.

although I certainly understand your point, the very large, if not the outright largest part of these people, including those in America, are socialist/Marxist, and therefore a perfect fit for Obama.

Okay I'm jumping in here because your post is outrageous, if not outright nuts.

>There is enough oil and gas for us to access without ANWR.

ANWR, since you apparently do not know it's history, was drawn up with the area to be drilled set aside and clearly marked on the plot plans.

Looking at a map the size of a home movie screen, the area to be drilled is the size of a pinhead.

>Secondly, you apparently are not aware of the SC decision that gives GITMO and other non-citizen enemy detainees legal counsel. If there is any reason to vote for McCain that the issue.

Are you outright crazy, or do you simply not know that McCain has both openly said and proposed that GITMO should be closed and that detainees should be afforded access to our legal system?!?

This court decision is perfectly in line with his past stands on the issue.

>MAD AT THE MAN. but he works for us.

Unless you have a mouse in your pocket, that statement is false.

Thank you for your post - bill
