Well he’s playing golf with Big Russ right now...

I am glad I had good things to say of Russert while he was alive.
To: tcrlaf
Tim Russert is a liberal, and is biased towards Democrats. But if the rest of the MSM were as relatively fair as he, we would have a lot less bias to complain about.

MR. RUSSERT: Thirty years later, you stand by that?
This is pretty sharp questioning. We know that Russert tends to take it easy on Democrats in general, and Senator Clinton in particular. However, being interviewed by Russert is certainly no picnic for a Democrat.
Russert is the proof that media bias exists. If someone is relatively evenhanded, we can recognize it. The rest of the media, by and large, is far easier on Democrats, and aggressive towards Republicans.

I'm glad to see everyone responding with genuine sympathy for the man and the family he lives behind. Shows the kind of class of people we have here on the FR. Contrast that with the way those on the DU would respond to a Fox News heavyweight passing away.

Sorry to see one of the decent ones from NBC to go. I know he was a lib, but he seemed to be pretty fair and he asked some good questions and seemed to be well informed. Sad for his family.

Tim Russert was the one person on MSNBC who actually approached true journalism.

Trying not to be a cynic, but I’m betting that somewhere in Hollywood, some 2-bit Producer is already huring a writer and producer for a “Movie of the Week” about him.

Prayers for Tim Russert and his family. My brother died of a massive heart attack at 51 and never got to walk his daughter down the aisle or see his grandsons. I understand Tim’s father is still alive. There’s nothing worse than a parent outliving their child.

Sorry to hear this, he seemed like the most decent & fairest of the lot of national news figures, and although in the end he played ball with the major networks using their rules, he was truer to the concept of political free speech than the Rathers, Brokaws, Moyers, & Lehrers.

What sad news! I feel so bad for his family; that’s way too young to die! I wonder if he’d been under treatment for a heart condition, or if it was the first, and last, time? Too often, it happens that way. Folks don’t know someone has heart trouble until it takes them, suddenly, and without apparent warning.
