A protest that might work

I have a plan to get the morons in DC to listen to us. I posted it earlier in passing, and it's a simple plan that would take some planning and prep, but it's not difficult. The key is to do it on a massive scale- I'm talking hundreds of thousands of people, probably throgh an email campaign, or getting it promoted through some kind of activist infratructure.

1> Organize a massive drive to DC on a Monday morning. Physically drive your car, truck, or even your fleet of semis (if you have one) into the city. Yes, there will be a HUGE traffic jam, and if we're lucky, it will extend way past the beltway.

2> At 12 noon, wherever you are, put your vehicle into park and shut it off.

3> Issue a demand to Congress to lift all drilling restrictions and refinery contruction roadblocks, and demand legislation funding hundreds of nuke plants. Tax credits for investing in alternative energy research would be nice too.

4>Refuse to leave until this happens. (Bring lots of water and non-perishable food. Coleman stoves would be recommended.)

We would shut that city down IMMEDIATELY.

This is not for the faint of heart. We will lose money and time. It will be hot and very uncomfortable, possibly for days.

But I think it would work.

If hundreds of thousands of us drive into DC, cause a huge traffic jam, and we all shut off our cars at 12 noon on a Monday and just stay there until drilling and refining restrictions are lifted, and new nuke plants are funded, we’ll be heard. They can’t tow that many cars. We’ll shut that place down.

"Any thoughts?"

Instead of traveling to DC, do the same thing, but in your own area.

Were it a mass action, by millions accross the nation, I think you would see some heads turn.

Sadly, me too. I guess the masses have to be kept in their places. Instead of just DC how about regional or statewide so the masses can participate?

Okay, DC and every state capitol. Easy enough.

I always thought a neat protest would be a couple hundred thousand or so people marching on D.C. wearing a visible and empty holster. ;)

If I lived within driving distance (and from Vermont its about a 10 hour drive, not to mention about $125 in gas each way which is substantial for someone who is semi-retired) I would gladly join such an effort.

My heart and prayers to anyone who would/could participate.

Something has to be done.

Bring the pitchforks and torches, and we’ll get rid of the Frankenstein monster.

I suggested this days ago...it might make more sense to do an e-mail/fax/phone campaign like we did with the ILLEGAL amnesty bill,,,,,,call your senators, congressmen, the white house, everyone and anyone involved in this including the whacko environmentalists.....I have links I will post so you can find your senators/congressmen etc. I know I personally don’t have money to purchase gas at over four bucks a gallon to drive to Washington, I don’t think too many people would be willing to lose a days pay, put out for gallons and gallons of gas to go to Washington,,,,we may be better severed to flood the place with calls/e-mails/faxes............I’m just saying.......

Makes sense to me, but sadly, I'd be hard pressed to find enough who might participate (SEE TAGLINE) to snarl traffic in the smallest city in the state.

Consider right now, the wonderful socialist of Burlington, are debating whether the city (which provides cable access) should continue to offer Al Jazeera English and last night, the "for" were 87%, if that gives anyone a clue as to what its like to live here.

Count me in on this one if the details get ironed out and enough people sign onto it.

Pinging people who might have some concrete organizational ideas!

We will need massive help from talk-radio and the internet blogs and web sites.

A good start will be something simpler, like TERM LIMTS, NOW!
