It's funny to be called a McCainiac even though I gathered signatures for his recall here in Arizona. I don't care for the guy, but our troops are FAR more important to me than my differences with my senator.

I served under Carter and, while it was no picnic and I wouldn’t do it again, he was no worse than LBJ... just in different ways. I served under LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush I. I retired under Clinton, thankfully. Reagan was the only one of the bunch who made service honorable again. McLame will not achieve that goal any more than Osama Obama would. Neither of them is fit to be CinC. Neither of them is good for the country OR the Constitution. A is A and evil is evil.

But you ARE choosing one evil (McLame) over another (Osama Obama),,, and A is still A and evil is still evil, no matter WHAT name you give it. A thing (or a person) is what it is, period. No amount of wishful thinking can ever change that. You cannot change the nature of evil by selecting an incrementally smaller amount of it. In the end, evil still rules the day. I KNOW it’s a hard choice, none MUCH harder. But by voting for McLame, ALL you are doing is telling the Pubbie Party that foisting McLames and Fords and Doles on us is OK in the end, because the “little people” will still come “home” and vote to keep them in power. Remember, if you subsidize a behavior (with cash or votes or whatever), you ALWAYS GET MORE OF THE SAME. Without fail. If you subsidize evil, guess what you’ll be getting a LOT more of?

It shouldn't be a difficult decision, but McCain hasn't said or done anything that makes me want to vote for him and has said and done plenty of things that make me want to vote against him. He does seem to have a pro-military opinion and that may be the only opinion he won't change, but who can say? So who do I vote for? I don't trust either one to do the right thing, so do I want to spend the next four years hating a Republican (sort of) President who will likely be or a demonrat President? Tough call. We are so completely and totally screwed.

You brought up an interesting point. The definition of win was changed. I'm not sure when it was changed, but it's definitely been within our lifetimes. Unfortunately, too many Americans permitted the definition to be changed. It's no longer the hard and solid verb that it once was. This is not only exhibited in how we define the verb "to win", but also in how we define conservative politicians, marriage, and basic moral issues differentiating good and evil. To change the defintion of win illustrates that we as a nation have slidden deeply into not only moral relativity, but other types in which that which was previously known to be something, or factual, is now something else. But is it really possible to change a constant simply by defining various "parameters"? I think not! Especially NOT in war!

To win used to mean that the individual, or a group of people exemplified at something beyond dispute. To win isn't debatable. It's irrefutable. Now, because of dumb kids (sorry...somebody had to say it!) who can't make passing grades, the taskmasters have reduced vast portions of the public education system down to something that everybody can excell at! Nobody fails! Nobody excells either! Ditto for success in life. It's the rich, greedy, evil people who have TOO MUCH! So they're taxed more and publicly extorted funded social programs are administered by our self serving government for the "poor, less fortunates". Thanks to modern media, we all got an up close look at how these "poor, less fortunates" act when the handouts stop thanks to events such as hurricane Katrina. We all saw a lot of fine upstanding citizens of New Orleans who looted, beat aid workers, and generally behaved like animals when the "equality" ceased. Ayn Rand may have been a godless intellectual, but she was dead on the mark about what's happening to us here in America.

According to "definition", you are indeed correct! Our soldiers did win. But it was according to a changed definition. It's like you and I playing marbles, and us agreeing that the first person to knock out FOUR of the opponents thirteen marbles will be declared the winner! But everybody watching knows that this is no way to judge a marbles game, and just because one of us knocked out four marbles doesn't mean that there was any solid or real winner. :-)

It's a crying shame that too many Americans are living in debt and under the control of "somebody" else. Slaves to debt and the world live in fear and are ineffective against this very problem you and I are discussing. If not for this problem of people being "slaves", we might stand a chance of shaking off this tyranny and "refreshing" the Tree of Liberty once again. But I just don't see that happening any time soon.

Since you ask, one size doesn’t fit all. Some are pretty obviously trolls signing up recently to make mischief. Some are concerned citizens, and some are just achingly embarrassing in their shallow short-sighted self-righteous rule-or-ruin tantrums.

The GOP has been using "the war" as a constant hammer for too long now. The war is the excuse to shame people into voting for a candidate who has no principles and we would never vote for otherwise.

Just as I would never consider voting for Obama, I also would never consider voting for McCain.

I am tired of being told I do not care about the troops if I do not vote for McCain. I care about the troops, my youngest son is a troops.

As I have pointed out before here, the troops are not in love with war, they are serving their country. These troops also live here, have families they wish to be with. They would also like to return to a sovereign nation and enjoy the liberty they are supposed to be fighting for.

The US has acheived its mission in Iraq. The greater war with the enemy extends well beyond Iraqi borders. It is an ideological war that needs a hero right here in the US. We can go to war all over the ME, but we can't seem to stop the rise of Islam on home turf. We don't close our borders, we pay for madrassas and footbaths etc. and generally appease Muslims.

The McCain apologists never like to talk about the problem beyond Iraq. Their pitch is always a very lofty "I care about America more than some silly principles from selfish people". I don't know about you, but I don't consider putting my stamp of approval on a pro cap and trade, amnesty and open borders, pro embryonic stem cell research, anti freedom of speech, anti oil drilling man.

I am aware of the alternative to McCain. The only people that deserve the alternative to McCain are the people right here that continue to sacrifice any principle they may have out of fear. They seek to tear down and demean those who do not wish to to put a stamp of approval on a candidate that has no principle, other than Iraq. What is McCain sacrificing to win our vote? I would say nothing.

It seems to me that no matter what, we're in a tough spot as a nation, and it's going to get "tougher". It "ought" to bring people down on their knees to the Lord. But this doesn't seem to be the case....yet.

Peculiar times are upon us, and the courage and actions of a very few could make a huge difference for a great many. Thanks for saying what you did about the "War", and the GOP. Only a troop's Mom could get away with that. Even a Vet (which I am) could NOT. It needed to be said though and everybody blindly following the GOP needs to hear it.

It's been good swapping messages with you. I have not been treated kindly here for saying the same things I've said to you, and I have not reacted kindly either. It's nice to exchange with a seemingly rational, and sane person. I appreciate that. THANKS. :-)
