New York, Jun 10, 2008 / 05:25 pm (CNA).- Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has apparently dissolved his Catholic National Advisory Council. According to the latest information obtained by CNA, evidence of the committees continued existence remains illusive.
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, said in a June 9 press release that there is no mention of the advisory council on the Obama website and Obamas National Catholic Outreach Coordinator has not responded to Catholic League inquiries about the council. In recent months two Catholic advisors to Obama have been the subject of controversy. One of Obamas Catholic advisers, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, was recently rebuked by Archbishop of Kansas City Joseph Naumann because of her pro-abortion views and asked by the archbishop not to present herself for Holy Communion. The other Obama advisor who has drawn fire is Chicago priest Fr. Michael Pfleger who reportedly withdrew his name from the Advisory Council after video of him mocking Obamas Democratic opponent Sen. Hillary Clinton was publicized. Amid critical media coverage, Fr. Pfleger was asked by Cardinal Francis George, the Archbishop of Chicago, to take a two-week leave of absence from his parish. Bill Donohue had called on Sen. Obama to dissolve the campaigns Catholic National Advisory Council because of what he said was the senators selection of dissident Catholics. Donohue said most of the public officials on the council had a 100 percent rating from NARAL, a pro-abortion group. Noting the lack of publicity for the Catholic National Advisory Council, Donohue said It would appear, then, that the group no longer exists. The Catholic League informed CNA on Tuesday that no further information on the fate of the advisory council has surfaced. The League also pointed to a report from BeliefNet in which one of the advisory councils members said that she chats on the phone with other members, but does nothing more. The full list of Obamas advisory council members can be found on CNA here or by going to http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=12621 |
For your lists...
However his Muslim advisory council remains in effect.
Christians dont matter at the Fed level - they are busy funding “art” depicting crucifixes in where the sun dont shine.
The word is "elusive."
Lists of pro-abortion Catholics, you mean?
**The doctor stated the obvious; that many Americans are being swept into Obamamania with little or no understanding of the candidate or his platform.**
What a wonderful doctor you have.

Hopefully I got those links straightened out so that they don’t run into each other. sorry.
Last night on Hannity and Colmes there was a representative of a group of Hillary supporters whose members will vote for McCain long before they ever vote for Obama. She pointed out that McCain was close to center while Obama was faaaar left. It was amusing watching Colmes not be able to wrap his mind around the fact that Hillary suppoters would vote for a Republican.
Why not leave well enough alone? I understand Donohue *on principle* pointing out that the Advisory board is not “Catholic” in the sense that these people are heretics, apostates, dissenters and pro-death.
However, that is just what makes these people completely unqualified to guide Obama on how to attract real Catholic voters, therefore unlikely to get their votes. IOW, the advisors will come up with a ridiculous advertising scheme based on their twisted version of who Catholics are and what they believe, and it will not attract votes of undecided (”mainstream”) Catholics at all. The extreme Catholics who are lefties already have Obama bumper stickers on their cars.
Seems to me Donohue would have served McCain’s campaign better by being quiet and letting Obama think he understands the average American Catholic. Obviously by his chosen board, he has no clue about Catholics, so let him stumble on his own.
Someone mentioned that Obama has yet to provide a valid, legal US birth certificate. Is this true? I hadn’t heard it before.
Fr. Pfleger needs to be completely removed from St. Sabina’s.
In theory you are correct, but in practice, not so much.
To may people will see a "Catholic advisory board" as tacit permission to vote for the Obamaiac.
My own mother said that she thought she could vote for this goof.
It took quite a bit of time explaining to her his actual positions.
Keep in mind that Francis Kisling was President of Catholics for free Choice, for how many years? And Faithful Catholics thought it was okay to support her just because Catholics in the name.
