Please explain how you can grow crops without fertilizer? You have a billion dolar idea there if it works.
A billion-dollars? Well, since you said please, you get a freebie. Yes, believe it or not, crops grew multiple years even before the advent of petrochemical fertilizers!
Amazing, huh?
Of course, petrochemical amendments can greatly increase yield and allow multi-year unrotated monoculture farming, but again, I'm not the one calling for us to stop using them. I'm just saying we should import the raw materials while they are relatively inexpensive, and have them in-house when the price climbs.
And of course, isn't there a current mantra of "don't hurt our food supply for fuel"? Seems to me that indicates we should stop burning the oil, and instead save it for agricultural use. ;-)
