**Catholics must always give each other the benefit of the doubt that in reaching our conclusion, we stand upon the common ground of deepening the protection of human life.**
McCain is pro-life. He will come around on the stem-cell research.
Obama is pro-abortion and has voted repeatedly for partial birth abortion.....where the baby is partially born and then stabbed in the head. (Sorry about the gruesome description.) But that is basically what happens.
Also Obama supports Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood supports Obama.

Well written, lawyerly piece, Doug. I agree with the others. Let’s forward your piece to Pope Benedict and ask him whether you are in communion with the Catholic Church.

what’s the problem? Is it that you don’t have the courage to post someone’s opinion who thinks for themselves.

The Partial Birth Abortion Procedure
Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby’s leg with forceps.
The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
The abortionist delivers the baby’s entire body, except for the head.
The abortionist jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole...
The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted.
The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse.
The dead baby is then removed.
Obama supports the murder of God’s creation!!!!!

The problem is that Rome has a problem with the Iraq war as well as with abortion.

Doug, you are fooling no one but yourself.
Admit it - you hate John McCain. That is why you support Obama.

The issue of abortion trumps all other issues. In the Constitution, Life comes before liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Obama received the endorsement of NARAL, the most visciously pro-abortion group there is! I find it inconsistent with the ethics of Mr. Kmiec to endorse such a candidate, period. The Democratic party is a known as obstructionist and hostile to pro-life legislation, henceforth, Obama would most likely act consistently along party lines when it comes to this. Mr. Kmiec, as well thought out your reasons seem to be, they still don’t fly. I’d love to know what Pope Benedict would say!

Doug,
Stop thinking like a lawyer, and think like a Catholic. I read your jibberish about abortion. If you are supporting Obama, and his stance on abortion, then in my humble opinion, you are outside of mainstream Catholic theology. The good news is you have a lot of company in the Democratic party: John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, et al. Doug these folks are lawyers, too, and like most lawyers, they know more than the common folk. Perhaps you should forward your article to the Pope and see if he agrees. And, if the Pope agrees with your article, by all means send me a copy of his response. Nota bene, Doug.

Obama doesn’t just support abortion, he condones infanticide.
