The victim who was badly beaten was identified by WDIV-TV (Channel 4) as Andy Kauffman.

That's where he's been hiding.

Kauffman's wife, Angelina, was quoted by the TV news report as saying she had no idea why the crowd attacked her car. "It just happened to be us, I guess," she said.

The fact that you are white was, of course, a complete coincidence.

Kind of a dilemma for a law-abiding individual.

If you keep driving normally, your car gets damaged.

If you stop, you get assaulted.

If you speed up to get past them before they can react to damage your car, you'll probably hit one of them. If you hit one of them and stop, you will be assaulted at minimum.

If you hit one of them and keep driving until you are ata a safe distance, you are a criminal.

Of course, if Mr. Kauffman had a firearm handy, much of the unpleasantness might have been avoided - or, it might have gotten considerably more unpleasant.

Next time let’s hope some motorists runs down a bunch of them. Part of the problem is solved then.

I would only shoot if on of the idiots smashed my window, or managed to get my door open. In this case, the brick took care of the windshield. Mr. Kaufmann made the grave mistake, however, of getting out of the car.

My former boss made another dumb but common mistake. In his case, while driving down Somerset in New Brunswick (NJ, not Canada), he stopped when some guy standing on the corner appeared to try and ask him a question. Within seconds, he was carjacked.

Sadly, I can't carry in my car in New Jersey the way I did in Washington and Florida.
