Sen. Hillary Clinton will drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination Friday, The Post has learned.
Her decision ends speculation about what she would do after Sen. Barack Obama captured the nomination yesterday.
Last night, a defiant Clinton conceded nothing to Obama.
In a speech at Baruch College, Clinton said she needed time to consider her next move.
Clinton ran down the list of every state she has won, trumpeted the nearly 18 million people who voted for her in this year's contests and demanded that her supporters be given "respect."
Clinton also said she had won the "swing states" needed to get the 270 electoral votes to capture the White House, as her supporters broke into chants of, "Yes, we will!" - a dig on Obama's slogan, "Yes we can!"
But today party leaders began calling for Clinton to drop out, hoping that such a move would encourage party unity.
"I don't see why we don't get on with it and endorse [Obama]," said Rep. Charles Rangel, a Clinton supporter. He said it was only a matter of time before he and other Clinton supporters formally back Barack.

Likely she got a call afterwards telling her that she'll get help retiring her debt ($20M I think) if she drops out, but none if she lets this drag on.
It’s going to be fun to watch these two losers having to co-exist in the Senate after McCain wins in November. Both Barry and hitlery will go back to their JUNIOR senator’s seats and drift into oblivion. Four years is a long time to go without constant media attention. It will kill hitlery more than it would affect Obama. Hitlery is like a shrew. She needs to have four times her body weight in meadia attention a day or else she will die. Obama can get by with far less.

how can she? she has been annointed.
If there was, she would have used it before he hit the magic delegate number, before the rest of the superdelegates went his way.
No point in holding on to that until after he's won when you can use it right away and prevent him from winning in the first place.
Of course, Hillary is dragging out the story on her own schedule and the media are still dumb enough to let her do it. There is absolutely nothing new in the Clinton playbook so why are Obama and the media still falling for it? Billary must be shaking their heads with how easy this is.
