Nice sentiment. Can we borrow it to put on America's tombstone?
America, as a country, has a complete freedom of religion. The founders experiment is that, in a land where all religions are treated equally by law, and tolerated without government interference, the rough edges of those religions will moderate, realising that freedom is good for all.
So far, we’ve survived with our 1st amendment. If the 1st Amendment will now spell our death, well, I’m not ready to abandon the 1st Amendment out of fear that freedom is too dangerous a concept.
My opinion is that there is a race between radical fundamentalist Islam, and the forces of modernization and comfort that are trying to overtake the Muslim world. We kill those who act out, and “convert” the rest to the global economy.
People tend not to destroy that which they see as helpful. We can’t kill over a billion people. Even if it was the right thing to do, which it isn’t, we simply don’t have the will for it.
IN the ancient days, the solution to competing religions was simple enough — fight to the death, and the victor kills the men, takes the women and livestock — and if the women are perceived as dangerous as regards spreading the loser’s religion, they are just killed as well.
My church prays for God to save his creation which are enslaved by Islam, Buddhism, and other false religions. But America can do little more but be viligant, be watchful, punish the criminals, and hope that the culture of our country can overcome the tendencies and tenents of Islam among it’s american followers.
Unless you are advocating we round up all the Moslems and put them on an island somewhere, pushing them all to vote for liberal democrats seems like the worst thing we could do. Because a Democrat is NOT going to protect us.
