Is it Possible that California Could Go for McCain?

So many young people who turned out in the primaries, won't in the general.

On what do you base that?

Nope; this is not a joke. One thing I did not add in my reasons as to why CA might go GOP for the first time since 1988:

A lot of people will not admit to a pollster or around the water cooler that they would not vote for a Black man under any circumstances. Now, most people would vote for any decent person regardless of color (Colin Powell comes to mind), but, B. Hussein Obama is NOT a decent person. He’s a Marxist punk.

No, there is no contradiction. In #3 you apparently missed the word “closet”. He feigns Christianity but many believe he is a closet Muslim who will show his true colors when it’s too late to do anything about it.

Help me here. What are the chances that McCain could be dumped at convention? He is often referred to as the “presumptive Republican nominee” but he did reach the number of primary delegates needed to win the nomination. Are those delegates pledged or could they refuse to vote for McCain on the first round of voting at convention? Anyone??

It is my understanding that all Pledged Delegates have to vote for "their" candidate on the first ballot. Otherwise, you'd have the nomination process tied up in so many lawsuits you'd have to postpone the General Election. BUT, after the first ballot, they are on their own.

That is why if neither Hillary or B. Hussein have the required number of delegates, the Dem Convention could be, as my Granny Crane used to say, "one mell of a hess".

Points 4 and 5 seem to be the best ones for causing the state to swing to McCain, but I personally don't think they are enough.

Point 1 has an equal and opposite effect, the gay marriage thing will bring out liberals in droves, too.

Point 2 will be neutralized by Barry O dropping his church, and the fact that most Californians really don't care about religion anyway, unless you're too seriously into it.

Point 3 is just plain wrong, most people don't believe Barry is a muzzie, just that he had a 'confused' religious upbringing, and that he is still struggling to find a Christian tradition, no matter how 'un-Christian' it might appear to fundamentalist Christians, when he finally lands on one. The people who are truly concerned about his religion are ones who would never vote for him under any circumstances. The mushy middle really doesn't care about his religion, unless they can see a way it might possibly impact them.

Why not? He is more democrat than many democrats.

Most people don't believe he is a Muslim but many do. This can be especially meaningful on the National level considering how close the last two elections have been. A 4 or 5 percentage point swing, for any reason, can make a big difference.

Add up the "possible" Dem defections from all 5 of the Points I made and........

I would submit that anybody who thinks he might be a hidden islammofascist was somebody whose vote he never had anyway. There's way more absolutely certain things we know about Barry O than where his mind is religiously. You'd have to ignore them, too, before you ignored his religion, and the Kool-Aid drinkers who wave his "Change" signs around at rallies are already past that point.

Like I said, points 4 and 5 are your strongest ones for swinging voters who would otherwise tend to vote Rat. The distrust that Hispanic voters have for Obama has been clearly demonstrated in exit polls, and since we've had the unusual circumstance of having a truly contested primary battle through all fifty states and the territories, we've got a good read on what role identity politics is going to play in this election. We're also starting to see a lot of middle-aged women whining and getting bitchy as Hillary's options are narrowing.

But people who are already suspicious of Obambi will remain that way. I would suppose a few people in the early caucuses and primaries who did vote for him have changed their minds about it, and had wished they had voted for the Beest, but when it comes down to it, they were definite Democrat voters (no Operation Chaos mischief, since Republicans had their own quite active contest going on), and will find a way to resolve their suspicious about Obama by finding McCain to be worse.
