For about 300 years Jupiter's banded atmosphere has shown a remarkable feature to telescopic viewers, a large swirling storm system known as The Great Red Spot.
In 2006, another red storm system appeared, actually seen to form as smaller whitish oval-shaped storms merged and then developed the curious reddish hue.
Now, Jupiter has a third red spot, again produced from a smaller whitish storm. All three are seen in this image made from data recorded on May 9 and 10 with the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2.
... Jupiter's recent outbreak of red spots is likely related to large scale climate change as the gas giant planet is getting warmer near the equator.

The common factor is the Sun. Liberals are stupid and liars.

“Im going with the idea that THE SUN may have something to do with things getting warmer.”
Shhh! Remember Galileo! Head down, mouth shut!

Is that a warming cycle or an out-of-control nuclear reaction that we started when we nuked Jupiter a year or so back.

To: Laissez-faire capitalist
The answer is clear: Halliburton is on Jupiter.

Click above image for details of Nasa's accidental nuking of Jupiter.

To: coloradan
(Do I really need a sarcasm tag here?) Quite likely.

I wish Jupiter would get it over already and become another sun in the solar system. Neptune is the place to be for me and the only way it gets warm enough out there is if Jupiter does its job.

It isn’t because of SUVs. That would be PREPOSTEROUS.
Obviously, it is man-made because of “space junk”.

    Picture from the the link:

The Great Red Spot is as big as 2-3 Earths. These new storms are a paltry one-half and one Earths in size. They probably want a little more Jovian warming so they can be big as their older bro some day and not have to endure so many headlocks and noogies. We must also think of what the storms want; they have feelings, too.

You’re right! A starry night. Thanks.

Yeah, but if that’s true then the liberals in congress can’t tax us for using energy. Somehow they’ll figure out how to do that while exempting themselves, of course.

Al Gore must be dispatched immediately to Jupiter... and Mars. The people there must sign Kyoto II or global warming could spread to other planets!!! What really happened here, AlGore uploaded all carbon credits he collected to Jupiter to cool down the earth.

To: According2RecentPollsAirIsGood
Actually, that looks like a yummy breakfast: bacon and eggs...
