Plagiarists like Mike Barnacle feel especially threatened by bloggers - Mike knows he stands a much greater chance of having his transgressions exposed by “new media” bloggers than by fossils of the MSM.

When the nitwits with their computers can document facts that show inconsistencies and outright lies in a story the MSM presents without any corroborating evidence they circle the wagons and claim the story is still true because some details couldn't be shown to be false. In their view, getting the facts straight doesn't matter as long as you believe the message is important.

What passes as critical thinking from these people is just laughable. Thankfully, their monopoly on the news has been broken and fewer customers are buying their trash.

I suppose Barnicle imagines himself a “real” journalist, like Dan Rather or Jayson Blair?

Anyway, as always, thanks for the ping. I have never met anybody who has ever seen ‘The Morning Joe Show’, but I think I have a pretty good idea what I’m (not) missing thanks to your reports.

FRegards,
LH

He posted as if speaking to Barnicle.
IIRC, Barnicle is a plagiarist.

Okay, I looked it up. Yeah, the Boston Globe fired Barnicle when they caught him making up stories (a la Jayson Blair) and plagiarizing George Carlin. But Barnicle is a “real” journalist you see....

Mike Barnicle is upset that a blogger at home posting in his/her pajamas does a superior job than he does.

If Mike Barnicle’s collegues were doing such a wonderful job why is the new media growing and the old media dying?

Walter Cronkit could never have survived the new media. He would have been exposed in 10 seconds flat.

Thanks, Lancey. I actually think the show is worthwhile, particularly when Joe is there to joust with Mika. And they do get a lot of great guests, although in Joe’s absence it has been very heavily tilted towards Dems/libs.

all “professional” reporters are feeling insecure.

They pay for USELESS journalism degrees only to find out that ANYBODY with ZERO formal training can do the job the same as or BETTER than any reporter on any tv or print outlet.

Why pay for millions for an overmoused head or info-bimbo when there is a legion on the internet exposing how overpaid and incompetent the degreed talent is.

Just impagine being the exec who greenlighted donahue or oberman at cnbc.

Barnicle is an unwanted growth on a vessel hull!

Yes, one barnacle fouls the hull.

The other barnicle is foul in the skull.

Maybe he'll get scraped off in the next dry dock.

Barnicle is known for his love of himself and other writers’ material which he plagiarizes freely. He is also in love with his wife’s fat job in the financial world which keeps him afloat as he drifts from one pseudo-news commentary gig to another. He is also a major league suckup and apologist for Ted Kennedy and Billy Bulger.

Things don't seem to have changed much in the field of "journalism" in the past two hundred years:

"Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper."
--Thomas Jefferson to Nathaniel Macon, 1819

"Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle... Perhaps an editor might begin a reformation in some such way as this. Divide his paper into four chapters, heading the 1st, Truths. 2d, Probabilities. 3d, Possibilities. 4th, Lies. The first chapter would be very short."
-- Thomas Jefferson, 1807

"I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are. If I killed them all there would be news from Hell before breakfast."
-- Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman

"If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed."
--Mark Twain (1835-1910)

"Journalism is the one solitary respectable profession which honors theft (when committed in the pecuniary interest of a journal,) & admires the thief....However, these same journals combat despicable crimes quite valiantly--when committed in other quarters."
--Mart Twain, Letter to W. D. Howells, 10/30/1880

"The essence of American journalism is vulgarity divested of truth."
--Winston Churchill

"Too many newspapers are afraid of offending somebody and losing a dollar by taking an unpopular position. The result is that they cease to be of much use in their community in getting people to better understand human relations that will promote good will, peace and prosperity."
--Publisher R.C. Hoiles

"Laziness has become the chief characteristic of journalism, displacing incompetence."
-- Kingsley Amis

And my favorite, by Twain:

That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditchdigging and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse."
--Mark Twain, License of the Press, A Talk Before the Monday Evening Club, Hartford, 1873.

And teevee "journalism" is to newspaper "journalism" as particle physics is to kitchen table crafting. [And I apologize for denigrating crafting and crafters. (grin)]
