If this indeed comes to pass, I’d speculate strongly that it was a ‘Rat plan all along - get gas/oil prices sky high via no drilling offshore, no ANWR drilling, no new refineries, no new nuclear plants, money into Arab oil driller pockets that gets to terrorists that we have to spend billions on to fight, corn/crop price rises as they supplement gas production. Just so they can get the ‘rat public worked up to back ‘em to nationalize the oil industry.
Nationalizing the oil industry can’t be all bad. Look at how Mexico’s economy prospered with Pemex.
Look at how successful nationalizing industries in the UK was after WW-II. Until Margaret Thatcher started selling of these nationalized industries the Brits were subsidizing inefficient and bureaucratic industries that were unable to produce even electricity at reasonable rates. Do you really want the equivalent of the US Postal Service or TSA running the oil business?
