I don't like Buchanan myself, but he's not totally off base here. Hitler wanted more than Danzig from the Poles. He wanted the Corridor as well, plus free passage through Poland for the German troops to attack the U.S.S.R.

After they resisted, he certainly did. I’m not saying Hitler would have honored an agreement with the Poles [although his record in dealing with loyal allies was surprisingly good]. I’m just saying that the offer was made.

The thing about all nationalism and racism is that at it's heart it is stupid. Many Germans had Western Slavic blood -- the Sorbs for example, but even more, Germans and Celts and Slavs had been living next to each other for millenia and all three were/are part of the Indo-European/Aryanic group of peoples (like the Romans, Greeks, Iranis, Indians, Tajiks, Hittites etc.), so they were, to a large extent, the same "blood".

it's like the Tutsi - Hutu genocide. When the Belgians came there in the 1800s, they found a set of Bantu speakers who spoke the same language, but some were cattle herders and some were farmers. Some were lighter skinned (Tutsis) and some darker skinned (Hutus). So, the lighter skinned were given privileges and then started considering themselves distinct from Hutus. Net result, the genocide.

Or, even Anti-Jewish idiots. Remember that the Israelies were great traders, like the other Canaanites, and they did trade with places as far apart as Britain and India -- and, Jews settled in all of these places. Net result, I'd wager that MOST people in the world have SOME Jewish blood -- even Scandanavian blondes, or Kenyan Negroids, or even Japanese and definitely most Saudis (Muhammed had, as his first wife, an old Jewish widow and the cities of Makkah and Madina had large Jewish tribes controlling trade there as well as in southern Arabia and Yemen).
