SAN ANGELO, Texas - An underpinning of the state's case for taking hundreds of FLDS children into custody continued to weaken Tuesday as officials acknowledged four more women whose ages were disputed are adults - including one who is 27.

Non FLDS family members are coming forward to take custody of some of the children. In the normal course of events, when kids are taken away from parent(s), family members get first shot at assuming responsibility for the kids.

They could not tell a 27 year old from a minor?

So . . . the authorities were holding adult women virtual prisoners.

“They could not tell a 27 year old from a minor?”

What else have they been wrong about?

The children are being abused by the State of TX. Did you read any of the comments of mental health workers who observed horrible abuse on the part of CPS in the coliseum? BTW, I think it’s interesting how they dumped all the kids in a “coliseum”.

“I have not been following it closely.”

Lucky you. Ignorance is bliss. The way they have stomped on the Constitution would make you sick.

I posted on a couple of the threads about abuses in the past and was attacted by former LDS members .

I wonder if they will show up to say sorry?

Well, I’m torn on the little I do know. And I don’t trust the media to get it straight.

Was there polygamy at the compound? Were underage girls being impregnated and/or married off? Was there welfare fraud. Any one of those is enough to investigate these freaks. But none justify separating children from the families until/unless they demonstrate abuse.

Oh yeah. This whole “case” has me seeing red. OK, child abuse is indefensible and any FLDS member FOUND GUILTY of it should be burned at the stake, as far as I’m concerned, but the State of Texas is equally guilty for the way they have handled this entire matter.

What outrages me even more are the supposed “conservative” Freepers that are applauding this high-handed, fascist State action!

I know. I don’t get it. If ever there was a web site that should be opposed to heavy-handed government intervention - rounding up kids - stomping on the Constitution - no due process - you’d think it would be this site.

Very strange indeed. Aren’t these the same people who railed against what the gov’t did to the Branch Davidians (including 24 children)? And Elian Gonzales? Ruby Ridge?

You know very well what these women informed CPS about. They’ve lied about their own names, their ages, who their kids are, everything.

They all lived at/in the exact same residence. The law requiered the children to be removed. If you don’t like it see the Texas legislature.

For some reason that I can not fathom not a single gag order has been handed down by any of the judges...and right now it is the State of Texas that would benefit most because it would keep the press from picking up on some of the totalitarian tactics that are used by the CSD(or DHS or CSP or whatever it is called in each state) in their rush to protect the children.

You slavers really ought to go find a country more compatible to your kind. Children are not personal property. You are to keep your pundenda away from them.

All seems pretty clear to me if not you.

The whole raid was based on a false report by some 33-yr-old nut parading as an abused teenage girl and the man she fingered was not even there. Never mind, though. Constitution be damned. I think they are going to have a hard time proving polygamy since from what I can gather there was no cohabitation. CPS has been wrong about many of the young women, labeling them as minors when they are not.

I have been thinking about the women who escaped the ranch and went on to write books and be consulted as experts for the CPS to rely on for information and advice. Think about it. These escapees lived in that system for years and years, raised their children in that atmosphere, and finally got fed up and split - one when her husband decided to take the seventh wife. Anyhoo, aren’t these women guilty of subjecting their kids to that kind of abuse for all those years and yet CPS looks to them for advice.

This stinks any way I look at it. And why didn’t they round up all the men instead ripping children right out of the arms of their mothers, dumping them in a coliseum, and then dumping them in tax-funded institutions (foster homes)?

So far there's no gag order because everyone involved in this is being given full due process of law.

Do you want criminal trials or what? That can be arranged. There are sufficient grounds.

What you have is a collection of people who cannot or will not categorically state who’s kids belong to which parents and how old they are. Either because they no longer know for sure themselves or they are afraid that if they do state it they’ll go to jail for molestation and statutory rape. That is unconscionable to me.

And yet some blame the state of Texas for not figuring it out right the first time. Kudos to Texas for trying. Now hang em high.

This sect/group or whatever you choose to call them have an interesting history as to their development. The following article gives a little background but should be taken with a grain or two of salt I’d guess.
