Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.

Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

Ah, no wonder there was a hit-piece posted earlier regarding Jindal. As for our governor suntan, America’s loss will be Florida’s gain. Pro’ly an improvement over Grahmnesty though.

I wouldn't doubt he'd pick Liebermann as VP candidate.

I don't agree with Lieberman politically, but I think he would add integrity to a McCain ticket.

So you're saying her values and principles trump her length of service in various elective offices in a short span then. Gotcha - my biggest worry is what the Rats will do to her if they play the "no experience" card against her. I suppose they won't because Obama himself has technically only been a Senator for 2 years, and prior to that he was keeping a chair warm in the IL Senate.

“Hey no matter who McCain selects for VP, Bush will be his running mate.”

Are you trying to make me feel sorry for McCain?

If the next Congress is still a majority of leftists, then it truly doesn’t matter what McCain does or doesn’t do when it comes to choosing his VP. A President McCain also won’t be able to fill any judge openings with any conservative judges if the next U.S. Senate is truly dominated by the political left. The political makeup of the next Congress is truly the most important thing politically that will be officially decided on November 4.

I read there are 20 names on McCain’s list, I hope Kasich is on there, he should be. He’d help McCain big time in OH, PA, MI and all through the Mid-West and Industrial States.

Crist would be a bad choice, imho. McCain would likely lose votes if he were to choose Crist.

When is the time?

In September at the Republican convention.

Just as the accelerated primary schedule favoring moderate states and cross over voting got the angry little man's foot in the door, so can he be thrown under the bus to accommodate a traditional candidate.

Regardless of tradition, Republican electors are not legally bound to any candidate. They can, and probably will, slide effortlessly to a traditional nominee if one is identified at the convention.

In the meantime, this conservative is doing everything in his power to torpedo McCain and other liberals regardless their party registration. From my perspective, a liberal Republican victory would be a disaster for the Republican Party and a calmity for our republic.

In other news Mike Huckabee’s brain exploded today.

Romney would be fine, interesting that Pawlenty isn’t mentioned.

DC Madame’s suicide was perfectly timed for any and all political announcements. R.I.P. (Tarpon Springs, Fl, a quaint Greek fishing villa).

Two terms as a councilwoman & two as a Mayor of a 5,000 population city prior to becoming Governor is a track record?

She also served on Alaska's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which is a fairly important bit of experience for this election, I think. That makes her experience at least as good as Obama'.

You want conservative votes, McCain, choose a conservative.

Someone like Sen Tom Coburn or Gov Haley Barbour would do nicely.

Palin or Steele. Mitt admitted on Meet the Press that he would sign another AWB so I will stay home if he is on the ticket.
