Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.

Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

How about Thune from SD? He beat Tom Daschle.

Being a Senator himself, he's not going to choose another Senator.

He needs to pick a Governor; unfortunately, there are only two good Republican Governors I can think of, Sanford & Rounds. Good thing RINOLD is prohibited from becoming VP.

Palin

That would be an inspired choice, IMO. A lot of women are unhappy that Obama is getting the nod over Hillary. Palin could draw some of those and has some solid conservative bona fides and also has a good reformist streak.

Help me out, who isn't pro-life?

According to the attached article, Crist is a pro-life, law and order Republican. I admit I have not followed him that closely though, so the article may be wrong.

FReepers need to lay off the Palin!

Disagree about Palin. She's had enough time in office by now to show a track record. Jindal has not.

We’d end up w/a better governor but I’d hate for the nation to endure those puppy dog eyes for the camera. No substance, just ambition.

LOL. I thought the same thing about Obama choosing Hillary as VP. If they win, he better double up on secret service agents.

Crist isn’t pro-life. He helped kill Terri Schiavo. That would mean she’s dead.

Not Crist. Not when it came to Terri Schiavo.

Two terms as a councilwoman & two as a Mayor of a 5,000 population city prior to becoming Governor is a track record?

Who cares? It doesn’t change the fact that socialist McCain is still the final GOP choice for POTUS or that all of U.S. conservatism is truly in danger of long-term extinction with the next Congress also being a super-majority of socialists with all of the political clout for both the short-term and for the long-term.
