Howdy everyone! Had a pretty good day today. A double dose of physical therapy, visited a shop to get the ball rolling toward converting the seating on my chair to a gel cushion system (first step in typing is a well pampered butt), received an IV and got a two hour nap out of the deal. Feeling good today but arms still too weak. Hope to be back in the groove soon. My stump is still tender, but otherwise not much pain. Have to go back for a followup visit with the surgeon tomorrow. Hope to convince them that I would be a good candidate for a new leg. Feel it would help me transfer and as I regain my strength, God willing, I’ll regain some independence. Really enjoying being at home.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.
God bless,
Jim
Glad to hear you’re getting better, Jim.
Keep working hard on your rehab, and remember, you’ve got a big, Freeping family praying for you!
Well then....um. I want your butt to be....well pampered...I can't believe I just typed that. glock made me do it, OK?
Seriously....you sound like you had a WONDERFULLY productive, restful day. This is very very good.
Gramp's puppy put herself into the bathroom, closed the door behind her and LOCKED the door. This has NOTHING to do with anything other than we're still wondering how she locked it........
A good productive day. Good to hear the pain has been minimized
When they get that new bionic leg made for you, we will attach the TurboTransferTM® unit that's sitting in the laboratory at the Institute of Phenomonology.
Welcome back, Jim! Take it easy. Concur on the well-pampered butt. ;-)
The gel cushion will sit very comfortably, Jim. Now all you have to do is get some dumb bells and start working the arms slowly.
Was it below the knee or above the knee, Jim?
Glad to hear you had a good day, Jim.
Your future plans for the chair and “new leg” say that you are doing well and “moving on” with LIFE.
As you would say “Woo hoo”!
Sleep well, or maybe you already are. In that case, Good Morning.
Jim’s latest update. See ping #408.
Way to go.
God bless you. May you continue to recover.
Hopefully you're not ready for Pampers just yet. ;-)
May your health continue to improve. One day at a time - you know the deal. All the best to you and your family.
Wow, sounds like you are doing great! It took me about 6 weeks after abdominal surgery to get my strength back, it will happen, just be patient.
Still keeping prayers up for you!
We’ll keep up the prayers Jim, sounds like you are doing great. You have a mighty big family behind you!
Good Morning Jim!
Great to hear you’re feeling better and good luck with the appointment today, and while I’m sure you’ve got tons of suggestions and advice on getting the arms strong again, when I was in physio a few years ago after a car wreck, my doc gave me a simple bungee cord and told me to just hold it in both hands and pull it back and forth between my hands as I was able, said it would nudge the muscles a bit and help regain some strength, and it did help in the overall effort.
You’re ‘sounding’ better with every post Jim, it sure is good to have you back and to know you’re home!
God Bless and have a great day!
MKJ :)
One step at a time, one step at a time. Crossing my fingers and hoping, praying, and still worried.
Sounds good! Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jim!
Glad you’re feeling better! Keep up the good work.
God bless your convalescence, Jim.I hope you caught my reference in your earlier thread to The Mind and the Brain: Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental Force by Jeffrey M. Schwartz and Sharon Begley. Because that book (a tome, actually) has IMHO some serious interest both to an amputee and to anyone who has had a stroke.
Only trouble is, it might take your energy away from FReeping to read it . . .
