While this article seems to lay out a step in the right direction, I emailed Rep. Boehner to let him know that there are many that are done reading and hearing empty words. There are many with genuine trust issues with both parties and to gain that trust back, the Republicans better get very vocal through ACTIONS.

One point to make here. If the Pubs do suffer a seventy five seat thrashing and Obama wins, the country's fate will be entirely in the Democrats' hands (God forbid, but it's possible). You'll then see a replay of the Jimmy Carter era of expensive gas, declining international prestige and our President telling us what a rotten bunch we are for wanting to prosper, yada, yada.

The time will be ripe for the Dems to lose BIG in 2010, assuming the Pubs can get even a semblance of an act together. Of course, they are the Stupid Party, so they won't, but the conditions will be ripe if they were able to take advantage of it.

Just sent Boehner the following message through his website:

I just finished reading your online letter about Change that America Deserves. Frankly, the problem the GOP faces today is of their own making.

The GOP has positioned itself as the nerdy sister of the Democrat Party. Instead of holding to its values of small government, minimal taxation and strong national defense, it has gone out of its way to bloat government spending, take seriously fraudulent issues such as global warming, and promote government interference in strictly economic issues such as health care.

The GOP positions itself as strong on the War on Terror, but has done little to seal our borders. Indeed, the assumptive GOP Presidential nominee is in favor of amnesty for illegals, and bows to the holy grail of global warming.

Senator McCain will not get my vote in November. I will be voting for my congressman (Donald Manzulo) as well as my state representatives, but there will be no check next to McCain's name. He is not what I expect the GOP to be. Conservatives like myself have not left the GOP; the GOP has left us commensurate with the Presidency of George W. Bush.

We don't need words, congressman. We need action. We need action that reflects strong, reasonable and sound conservative principles. Only then will those who have supported the GOP in the past begin to believe it has seen the light. Until then, the GOP may as well close its doors.

It likely won't do any good, but it felt good to unload on him :)

it’s become increasingly clear that the promises made two years ago have been broken

Two years?

Washington is broken.

No sir. This is how government works. It is completely normal. That is why, for practical reasons, government needs to be minimized and used only where there is no alternative.

"Two years ago, congressional Democrats promised “change” but what we’ve seen instead is business-as-usual."

Boehner is attempting to criticize the Dems with this statement, but is apparently oblivious to the fact that it encapsulates the very problem that is driving us conservatives nuts! When there is little discernible difference between the "business-as-usual" policies of a Republican-controlled Congress and a Dem one, and when one of the top Repubs in a leadership position admits it himself (however unintentionally!), it's clear they've lost their way.
