Obama claims of "Kennedy talked to Kruschchev over Cuba" goes unchallenged in the press

Today Barack Hussein Obama claimed that Kennedy talked with Kruschchev during the Cuban Missile Crises, and as a result, the the Russian removed these missiles from Cuba. Unfortunately for BHO, no such event ever took place.

Quote

"But when the world was on the brink of nuclear holocaust, Kennedy talked to Khrushchev and he got those missiles out of Cuba."

It was Bobby Kennedy who gave Dobrynin the ultimatum to the Soviets to remove the missiles the Cuba.

No one in the press ever challenged him.

I suspect (very) few in the press recognized the mistake. But the few who did remaining quiet about it is certainly no surprise. They're protecting B-HO like he's their own child.

Kenedy administration talked to Kruschev admininstration.

You are quibbling on this.

Obama sucks, but this is no issue - though I empathise with your sentiment and hatred of the left-wing Obamaniac press.

Most of today’s reporters are dumb as dog crap about history. I would expect them not to know what Obama is talking about, esp. since he has no idea what he is talking about.

Products of our NEA-taught schools. What else can I say?

That’s not what he said. He didn’t say the Kennedy administration he said ‘Kennedy and Kruschchev’.

I’m old enough to vividly recall that confrontation with the Russkys. Then it was portrayed by all that Kennedy made Khrushchev blink. So, your point is not clear.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the Cuban missile crisis prompted the “hot line” between the USA and USSR.

People forget....Kennedy didn’t just sit down and have a talk with them. He told them to get the missles out of Cuba and turn their ships around or he would blow them out of the water. He was 30 minutes away from pushing the button. There’s a big difference here.

Obama is clearly an idiot. Why can’t he just say he misspoke when he said he’d personally meet with Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and N. Korea in the first year of his presidency without preconditions?!?

We really got a good deal - not. We gave up our missiles in Turkey. The Russkies got what they wanted all along. Kennedy almost totally blew it. He was a poor president.

Yeah, I don’t think “talked” as in how Osama means the word. It was more along the lines of “Do it, or we will kill you”.

Funny how the Left doesn’t like that nowadays and here’s Osama making it a negotiating example.

There is no comparison between Soviet leadership and Iranian leadership.

The Communists enjoyed their uptown Moscow apartments and garden homes. They didn't want to get blown up for the sake of their cause. The Muslims on the other hand find that a perfectly acceptable option to further their cult and cause.

The Muslims running Iran want to bring about the return of the 13th Imam, who is supposedly hidden in a well. Anyway, the nutballs want #13 to return as the Mahdi and restore Islam to worldwide domination (caliphate).

There is no bargaining or negotiation with people who think like this. Even a simpleton like me knows that.

There is only room for vanquishing the Iranians before they kill all of the Israelis.

I think the Cubans who wanted to invade should have been supported by our military right from the ‘getgo’. Things would have turned out so much better and the Soviets wouldn’t have got the leverage they did.

JFK and his brother estblished backchannel communications with Khruchev and used our intel info to prove he knew what he was talking about.

See the book ‘Regicide’(Amazon) with references to many others on this.

In June of 1961, while still in the early months of his presidency, Kennedy attended a summit with Premier Khrushchev in Vienna to discuss cold war confrontations between the east and west; in particular the situation in Berlin.

As far as Cuba, JFK talked to Gromyko and he and K ticker taped messages back and forth.

If this is what you have on Obama, you're fishing in shallow water.

Obama claims to be following in the footsteps of FDR, JFK, Nixon and Reagan in being willing to meet without conditions with our enemies. What on earth is he talking about?

FDR never met with Hitler, Mussolini or Tojo. True, we normal diplomats were meeting with the Japanse in the fall of 1941, and FDR did send a personal letter to the Emperor pleading for peace and an end to Japanese aggression. That negotiation was sadly interrupted on Sunday, Dec. 7 1941. Perhaps Obama is confusing FDR’s meetings with Stalin. However Stalin was at the time an ally, not an enemy. The cold war would not start until 2 years after FDR’s death.

Kennedy did meet early in his term with Kruschev. Soon thereafter Krushchev decided to place nuclear missiles in Cuba. The summit was apperently not terribly successful in persuading Premier K. to end his hostility to the west.

Nixon met with Mao, but only after careful preparation, and with a specific goal in mind. Soviet and Chinese troops had recently fought a border war, and Nixon realized an opportunity to split the communist world. He know what to expect, what he wanted to achieve, and what he was willing to give to get it (ending recognition of Nationalist China as the legitimate government, including China’s seat on the UN Security Council). Nixon was engaging in high stakes realpolitik, not “let’s get together and talk things over” optimism.

Ronald Reagan? Remember those early Reagan summits with Soviet leaders? Breshnev? Chernenko? Yuriup Andropov? No? Not surprising. All three died in office without every meeting with Reagan. In fact the Democrats weeped and wailed and tried to make the fact that Reagan didn’t meet with them an issue in 1984. Of course, Reagan did eventually meet with Gorby, but only after a strategic victory had been achieved in the Cold War, and he determined he was dealing with a stable leadership that was not ready to abandon it’s intransigent hostility.

Obama is an historical ignoramus, who says anything he thinks sounds good to his ignorant followers.

They didn't call it a "crisis" for nothing---yep, things were mighty tense.

Didn’t Teddy Roosevelt have a suggested conversation for enemies of the United States? I don’t think it had much to do with sitting down and playing footsie either.
