the quote of a non-famous person follows, said in anger at the time of sen. mccarthy’s death; “those sons of bit%^es killed him.”
there were many at that time with the same sentiments.

it was pure speculation, not based on any information, but a conclusion based on knowledge of communist antics of the past.

Sounds like Mencken. It's cool that this came from a reader and that Sowell could appreciate (I believe) not just the sentiment but the good writing.

I’m not much of fan of the FDA either. A medication which my GI tract needs to function has been pulled from the market by the FDA. This drug helps me tremendously, and there are no good alternatives to it available in the US. Thankfully, my GI Dr. is Australian and a world-renowned researcher in his field. He has found a reputable overseas mail-order pharmacy that sells the Australia/New Zealand version of this drug.

I am so glad you were able to find relief that way. :-) I have a friend who was not so lucky... :-( ...and have a similar situation myself.

Now, we hear of Senaor Kennedy's condition. I wonder if the FDA is going to require he wait (in vain) like the rest of us--or if he will be allowed to get experimental treatment.
