I doubt Gore Vidal has his finger on the pulse of the black street. He's what - about 80 now? He has no idea what is going on, he's just regurgitating prattle from the 60s that was tired then.

Still my favorite Vidal moment:

Me: "OK. Mom? What's a queer?"
Mom: "It's what Gore Vidal is."
Dad: "It's like the creepy guy who follows you into the bathroom at Sears."
Me: "Oh."
