Ron Paul Hopes to Crash McCain's Party
ABC News ^ | 5/13/08 | Marcus Barum

Sen. John McCain, taking a victory lap as the presumptive Republican nominee, happily poked fun at his only remaining opponent.

Asked during an appearance on "The Daily Show" last week which of the two Democratic nominees he preferred to run against in the general election, McCain quipped, "Ron Paul."

But Paul might get the last laugh during McCain's coronation at the party's convention in early September.

McCain's nomination may be certain, but he finds himself pressured by different wings of the conservative movement -- from the libertarians and the anti-war activists, to social conservatives and evangelical voters.

John McCain believes the United States of America is worth defending and Barry Obama doesn’t.

Open borders McQueeg believes no such thing. Where do you people come up with this garbage? Blackbird.

The Ron Paul advocates still dwell here on FR.

Being that FR is friends with Paul's Republican Liberty Caucus and that Jim has alllowed them t host their forum here on FR, that's not a huge surprise.

I’m not a Ron Paul fan, but I’m not voting for McCain, either. I can’t. We are in a war for private property rights in my part of Washington State.

You might want to read this speech about the Kelo decision.

And look at who voted for Kelo - understand that Obama or Hillary will give us a LOT more Ginsburgs, not Scalias, Thomases, or even Rehnquists.

Ron Paul is not going to make dent like it or not.

But rest assured, all the McCain fanboys will be bitching and moaning about "those damned Paulistinians costing the election" after Obama destroys him in November.

I’ve been here for seven years and have loved the fight against socialism and liberalism, but FR is no longer any good.

Quit bitching. All because there is a small cadre of McCain bootlickers being obnoxious, FR is still hands-down the best conservative site on the Internet.

It’s not that kind of taking, it is controlling the use of the property, while not actually taking it over. Then on top of controlling the use, they force the property owner to prove that they are not ignoring the restrictions by paying hundreds of dollars to an inspector every year, who comes out and verifies that the property owner is in compliance. When the property owner threatens to take them to court, they tell you to go ahead because they have more lawyers than you do and it will cost you more to go to court than to pay the inspector.

"You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected." I'm standing with JimRob, on this one.

Ditto. I only wish that fit into a tagline.

The irony of FR's biggest ChiCom defender posting this is flooring me.

I suppose the irony that - when written - the signers of the Declaration did not have those Rights recognized by the State to which they belonged is also lost on you?

I see and support the change that is happening in China, that is bringing them towards the truth of those statements. What are you doing to ensure that your fellow man - ALL created equal - are reaping the benefits of those unalienable Rights, or even know they have such Rights?

I suppose you thought we should not have been involved in either World War; in the Cold War; any trade agreement? We should not even have relations with Germany, or the UK, or France. After all, we're just working with people without those Creator-endowed Rights (and at various times they've actively attempted via armed action to remove those Rights from us)!

I guess the Apostle Paul was an idiot for preaching to the Romans. Jesus wasted his time among the sinners!

What better way to bring the truth of those Rights to a society than to work with them, side by side, to help them move their society towards recognition of those Rights. Show them the results of the fruits of their labors, the fruits of my labors, and how those societies consider each person.

By no means is China as close to those ideals as the US; far from it! But they are infinitely better and more open - politically, socially, and economically - than they were 15 years ago. Progress has been made, and will continue to be made because some people will show them AND HELP THEM realise their Rights, and the benefits of same said rights.

Then there's the xenophobes who oppose anyone else achieving those same Rights because they're afraid that freedom may let someone else beat them in the game of life. THAT is a true twisting of the Declaration of Independence...

FReepers, the only candidate who can defeat Obama is John McCain. This is a fact. Support McCain for President because: 1. His appointments to the courts will be better than Obama's 2. He will not raise taxes as Obama will do. 3. He will not abandon the mission in our war against terrorists 4. He is committed to reducing spending and eliminating earmarks We must support John McCain because, if we don't, an anti-American international socialist will become President of the United States.

Bull$hit! McCain will do what he always does, side with the Dems. I wished he would have joined them back in 2004 like he planned to. The best thing that can happen at this point is for him to get his @$$ handed to him in so we can be rid of him.

I hope you like paying more taxes. Because that’s what you will do if McCain does not beat Obama.

And I hope you like paying more taxes because if any of these people (particularly McCain in this case) win we will have more foreign wars and interventionism which will cost the feds so much money to carry out that it will in-and-of itself be a built-in future tax hike.

Anybody who says he isn't for taxes and simultaneously is for escalation of tensions with Iran, Syria or any of the other countries on the president's to-do list is disingenuous or uninformed. Spending increases CREATE tax increases. Simple as that.

Sure, "Open Borders" despite voting to close them.

Where do you people come up with your garbage? Because the FACT is irrefutable - McCain VOTED FOR STRONGER BORDERS.

Oh, I do support conservative members of Congress (House). Unfortunately, the only representation in the Senate that we have in CA are two of the most notorious Liberals (Boxer and Feinstein). I don’t see much hope in CA for a conservative Senator anytime in the near (or far) future.

Sure, so McCain's call to deal with environmental issue with free market principles - founded on the unalienable Rights - should put your mind at ease.

Yes, I’m getting rather tired of the bloviating of these blow-hards on this thread who do nothing but flame people and demonstrate their lack of intelligence. I’m getting the sense that FR has been seriously infiltrated by a large number of DU and KOS morons.

You live in WA, you should be aware that this fascism is coming to your county. They are using Whatcom County as a test case for the water issue, center the whole legal case on what happens in Whatcom County. The restrictions on rural property are already in force in the counties around Seattle. I’ve heard that in Pierce County, they make the farmers map every cow pile and estimate it’s size and turn in a map weekly.

So, you want people in Congress who have zero ability to stand up for what they believe in? No one who will take a principled stand? Just keep on doing business as usual? I get it, you enjoy liberalism.
