I wonder if a gas station could sell gas with the taxes listed separately. Sure would be an eye-opener for the consumer.

I haven’t seen the taxes listed separately on a gas pump in a LONG time. I loved when they did that.

That's easy enough to do. Computer>Laser Label Printer>Trip to the Gas Station. Just make sure that you are discrete about it.

I remember reading an article years ago about a gas station that displayed a large poster with a breakdown of what made up the gas price, with taxes featured prominently. The state regulators pressured the station into taking it down

The one I go to does. It show exactly how much goes to each level of government. It really is an eye opener. It comes out to $.87 per gallon here in Skowhegan, Maine.
