Why I am here is because of your kind words and well-meaning bless. if all of Americans act like this, we will appreciated it very much.

People in the other district are spontaneously donating money and materials to those suffer, for example, there have been already over 500,000,000 RMB donated by various enterprises in China. Although I am still a poor student, I also donated 200 RMB to the disaster area, which I hope could help a little.

About religious matters, one must noticed that there is a sharp disparity between China and the western. China is the only nation in this world that in her history of over 5000 years there have never been an estate of clergyman. In its long history of feudalism China was always ruled by a emperor, the influence of religion has been very limited, which is the same even in today. It is true that we have little religious belief, yet we believe in the common humanity based on which our nation can evolve and prosper.
BTW, as for the matters in Tibet, you can refer to a lot of facts that there is no persecution on the belief of Lama. If you have ever been in Tibet, you will find that people there is quite happier than before, and they are free to believe in any religions.

As for political persecutions, I am sorry that I have little idea of it. But I have also read a lot of papers relating to this matters, which makes me to believe that government at itself have its own drawbacks, that granting power to several persons will eventually makes unfairness. But as I observed, China government is learning and improving. Believe that we are try to make it better, OK? We really hope that the pain of 89 Tian’anmen square and 66~76 culture revolution will never rehappen. We are trying, please believe in us.

I do believe some of you are trying to make things better. I also believe the photos I saw of the massacre in Tibet. I’ve seen other evidence of religious and political persecution. But I don’t wish to change the direction of this thread. This is about the earthquake, and helping to minimize the damage and help the victims. Let’s not make it about politics.

Chinese civilization has been mainly secular. Its greatest ethical direction was found in Confucianism. Marxism is a dead end and no society deserves to be poor. Mao's crime was turning China into a vast monastery, which proved unworkable and destructive. The only solution is tradition, family and freedom. China will discover its own model of national greatness. No society can rest on making every one equal in their assets and in limiting their God-given gifts. The persistence of marked differences in a country is a sign not of its weakness but a sign of its health for it is only in its diversity that the essence of it unity is revealed. That is much true for China as it is for every other country on earth.
