An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).

Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.

And even I don't wanna talk about politice,I think the worry of spies and agents is fair and reasonable for any country in any time. There are many high secret area and war industry in SiChuan Porvince including Nuclear facility ,missile base, etc.Any country would be more careful in such place.

Can you imagine the USA let foreign teams go to some high secuity level place like "Area 51"? Maybe my thought is not the fact, but at that very time,I dont think any country would have the time to care about such things and act quickly.I think the offer and acceptance of help by gov. are more as diplomatism affairs, not that simple logic of good or bad.

Some people were looting relief supplies on the road to Mainzu.

I can’t believe it! Those people are heartless.

Geography and wind sheer conditions are difficult circumstances to overcome in a disaster. Our prayers are with your helicopter pilots and all rescue workers who are braving those conditions to help the suffering victims.

Our news reported today that a couple planeloads of relief supplies from the U.S., probably blankets, food, and water, landed today in China with permission of your government. They were carried by our armed services whose aircraft have the most lift capacity, and it was the first time a foreign armed services plane was allowed to land in the People’s Republic of China.

We are so very happy that your government has allowed us to help out. God bless you all.

“Area 51” in our country is a joke. We have people that believe that the bodies of alien beings from outer space are kept there and many other silly things.

When we think people are believing crazy things we say they need to start wearing tin foil hats. That is because in the old days when a schizophrenic patient was having paranoid delusions, the psychiatrist would tell them they could block the voices they were hearing in their head by putting on a tin foil hat, so they would receive radio waves from the C.I.A. that were driving them crazy. That was the delusion of the paranoid schizophrenic patient to explain to themselves why they were hearing voices, and the advice by the psychiatrist about wearing a tinfoil hat was meant to calm them. This was before we had good medicines for schizophrenia. (Tin foil is an old name for aluminum foil, which we use for cooking.)

I am sure we have places in the U.S. where we work on advanced secret military planes and equipment, but I doubt it is done at “Area 51” any more.

Interesting.

Decades before the rest of the world was thinking about the enormous impact that China would have upon the global stage, Edgar Cayce predicted great things for China and its people.

On one occasion, Cayce told a group of people that eventually China would become “the cradle of Christianity, as applied in the lives of men.” (3976-29), suggesting that the personal application of spiritual principles would become paramount to the Chinese people.

Cayce then went on to caution that it would take a long time to manifest but that it was the country’s destiny: “Yea, it is far off as man counts time, but only a day in the heart of God – for tomorrow China will awake.”

I understand the traditional fears of letting in foreign governments and armed forces helicopters into your country to help out, but it is a shame that there is such fears between peoples when they need help.

I tried to imagine being in a natural disaster, and having a Chinese helicopter drop food and water to me. That would be the last thing I would expect, and it might possibly put me over the edge.

LOL. I would probably assume the food and water were poisoned, and worry about how our Air Force, obviously, couldn't fight them off.

;-)

I dont think any country would have the time to care about such things and act quickly.I think the offer and acceptance of help by gov. are more as diplomatism affairs, not that simple logic of good or bad.

But the logic is good. The more healthy people helping the sick, the more sick people survive.

You should read this speech by a Canadian radio broadcaster in 1973. Americans are good people.

And there you have the future scenario that will be the harbinger of a peaceful world — all countries, even China, helping all other countries when they suffer a massive disaster.

We had other nations send aid to us to help with the Katrina hurricane disaster. The only one I remember for sure was Kuwait, but I believe there were many others.

But of all the expressions of aid and sympathy, the one that moved me most profoundly was when the Queen of England had her band play the Star Spangled Banner after 9/11.

To this day, I am deeply grateful for that gesture of support from Her Magesty.
